What an honour to have showed Oom Hannes’s Koi one last time ❤️

Our journey together began at the end of 2023 - with simple conversations about daphnia and how to raise them. Over time, those conversations grew into something far more meaningful: a mentorship and a friendship that I will always treasure.

Oom Hannes became one of my greatest supporters. With every milestone reached and every achievement accomplished, he was always one of the first to offer congratulations, encouragement and wisdom. He shared his knowledge freely, guided with kindness, and continually inspired me to grow within the Koi community and beyond.

One of the memories I hold closest to my heart was visiting him in June 2025 and experiencing his personal Koi collection firsthand. His passion for Koi was unmistakable, and he often said:

“Koi is not a hobby - it is an addiction.”

During that visit, he gifted us a very special Koi. We named her Hansie, in honour of the man who believed in me so deeply. She will forever stand as a symbol of his generosity, wisdom, and the profound impact he had on my Koi journey.

I feel truly blessed to have known Oom Hannes, to have learnt from him, and to have shared part of life’s journey with him. His legacy will live on through the people he inspired, the knowledge he shared, and the passion he carried so wholeheartedly.

I cannot wait to one day see the Koi collection he is building in Heaven - I know it must be extraordinary. ❤️
