🔥 The Legend of Andries: The Hero Who Saved Heritage Braai Day 🇿🇦

It was supposed to be the perfect Heritage Day weekend.

The grills were ready. The meat was waiting. The family was gathering. The only thing missing was the one thing no South African braai can survive without…

WOOD. 🔥

Our usual local wood delivery had been delayed because of the public holiday, and suddenly, the fate of an entire braai weekend hung in the balance.

Panic set in.

Would the fires be lit?
Would the boerewors go uncooked?
Would the steaks be forced onto a sad little electric grill?

Then, just when all hope seemed lost…

ANDRIES ARRIVED.

With determination in his heart and a van packed to the brim, Andries raced against time to secure enough wood to keep the Heritage Day fires burning. Bag after bag, load after load, he delivered the precious fuel that would bring South Africa’s favourite tradition back to life.

While everyone else was preparing salads, marinades and meat, Andries was out there fighting the real battle.

Because Heritage Day isn’t just about gathering together! It is also about celebrating ones roots and a very traditional South African braai weekend!

The smell of wood burning.
The sound of the fire crackling.
The sizzle of meat hitting the grid.
The laughter around the braai.
And that unmistakable feeling of “lekker, we’re sorted.”

Thanks to Andries, the weekend was saved.

The fires were lit.
The braais went ahead.
The meat was cooked.
And our Heritage Day tradition remained proudly intact.

Andries, we salute you. 🇿🇦🔥

Some people wear capes. Others drive vans full of wood.

Andries did both. 😎🔥

When women’s health matters, the conversation matters. ❤️
At SPAR, we believe that empowering women also means creating spaces where women can learn, ask questions, share experiences, and have open conversations about their health and wellbeing.

The Women’s Health Matters Conference brought women together to shine a light on the health issues that affect us through every stage of life, creating an opportunity to listen, learn and start conversations that too often go unspoken.

Because when women are better informed about their health, they are better equipped to advocate for themselves, support one another, and make empowered choices.

Her health matters. Her voice matters. Her future matters. Today and every day, we . ❤️
