Indian cuisine reflects an 8,000-year history of various groups and cultures interacting with the Indian subcontinent, leading to a diversity of flavors and regional cuisines found in modern-day India. Later, trade with British and Portuguese influence added to the already diverse Indian cuisine.
Indian cuisine consists of a variety of regional and traditional cuisines native to the Indian subcontinent. Each region has its own traditions, religions, and culture that influence its food.
However, interestingly when it comes to food tastes even Indians divide the subcontinent into two regions namely the Northern flavors and the Southern flavors. It is primarily the dishes from Northern and Southern India that have gained popularity outside India.
