Men carry a lot on their shoulders and many of us take that for granted. They quietly carry the responsibility of providing, protecting, leading, and supporting their families, often without speaking about the pressures they face. Their strength is admirable@but strength should never mean suffering in silence.
We all know about female menopause but fewer people realise that some men, particularly from their 30s, 40s onwards experience age related hormonal changes, including a gradual decline in testosterone. Combined with lifeโs pressures, these changes may contribute to depression, anxiety, low energy, loss of motivation, # even feelings of hopelessness or suicidal thoughts. For some, these challenges, together with other life circumstances, may lead them to withdraw from the people they love or make impulsive decisions.
This topic became personal in my own family. During a difficult season, I worried about someone I love. With jobs being so scarce and the pressure of not being able to provide, I found myself praying constantly, encouraging him, and sometimes walking on eggshells, afraid of saying the wrong thing. As wives and mothers, we carry that burden too. By Godโs grace, He made a way, and it reminded me how important it is to check in on the men we love before they reach breaking point.
This is simply my observation and I may be wrong@but perhaps itโs time we spoke more openly about menโs mental health. Instead of judging or dismissing them, letโs create safe spaces where they can talk without fear. Mental health matters for men too.
Letโs be kinder, listen more, pray for our husbands, fathers, brothers, sons, uncles, nephews@and friends and remind them that asking for help is not a sign of weakness. I will continue supporting the men in my family without judgement because I know many wonโt ask for help. Sometimes all they need is someone who will listen, encourage, pray with them and remind them they are not alone.
Awareness may not solve every problem, but silence certainly wonโt.
