Boerewors Roll Board with 3 Toppings

Ingredients:
🛒 1kg boerewors
🛒 6 hot dog rolls
🛒 2 tbsp butter, for rolls
🛒 1 cup grated cheddar cheese, optional
Chakalaka topping:
🛒 1 cup chakalaka
🛒 ½ cup grated carrot
🛒 1 tbsp tomato sauce
Caramelised onions:
🛒 2 large onions, thinly sliced
🛒 1 tbsp cooking oil
🛒 1 tbsp butter
🛒 1 tbsp brown sugar
🛒 1 tbsp chutney or balsamic vinegar
🛒 Pinch of salt
Creamy slaw:
🛒 2 cups shredded cabbage
🛒 1 carrot, grated
🛒 ¼ cup mayonnaise
🛒 1 tbsp plain yoghurt or sour cream
🛒 1 tsp lemon juice
🛒 Salt and pepper, to taste
To serve:
🛒 Tomato sauce
🛒 Mustard
🛒 Chutney
🛒 Pickled chillies, optional
Method:
1. Braai the boerewors over medium coals for 15–20 minutes, turning often, until cooked through and juicy.
2. Butter the rolls and lightly toast them on the braai.
3. Mix chakalaka, grated carrot and tomato sauce in a bowl.
4. Heat oil and butter in a pan. Add onions and salt, then cook for 10–12 minutes until soft. Stir in brown sugar and chutney or balsamic vinegar. Cook for another 3–5 minutes.
5. Mix cabbage, carrot, mayonnaise, yoghurt, lemon juice, salt and pepper to make the slaw.
6. Place the toasted rolls on a large board. Add sliced boerewors, then let everyone choose their toppings.
7. Finish with cheese, tomato sauce, mustard, chutney or chillies.
