🇯🇵A little Japanese food adventure in Rivonia🥢✨

We popped into Shinya Izakaya early on a Friday without a booking and managed to get seats at the bar, which I actually loved because you get to watch the food coming straight out 🤭

We tried a little bit of everything: seaweed salad, pork gyoza, the interesting boneless chicken wings stuffed with prawn paste, comforting Taiwanese beef noodles, mochi & of course bubble tea 🧋

The seaweed salad was surprisingly one of my favourites 🤤 and I’d definitely like to try the prawn gyoza next time!

It’s a small, super cute space with limited seating, so I’d recommend booking if you’re going with a group. It’s an enjoy the experience, food, drinks & decor kind of spot ✨ Definitely worth a visit 🤩

Pretty restaurant… Mixed experience 👀

We celebrated our anniversary at Comida & really wanted to love the experience.

The restaurant is beautiful and the seafood was tasty. We ordered the Thursday special – 30 prawns with chips for R199, which was great value 🦐

Unfortunately, the food arrived cold and much saucier than expected, and the service felt slow and a little disorganised throughout the evening. We were assisted by several different waitresses, waited quite a while to be served, and a few small things (like missing condiments and a glass breaking near our table) took away from the experience.

That said, the manager apologised and Kitty went above and beyond to look after us, which we really appreciated.

Overall, we still made the most of our anniversary and enjoyed the evening, but we left with mixed feelings.

⭐ 3.3/5

Would we return? Maybe on a quieter evening, as I think the restaurant has potential.

🇹🇭 A beautiful Thai restaurant in Oxford Parks ✨

We recently visited The Thai Table 789 for a little farewell lunch, and they thoughtfully acknowledged the occasion, which was a lovely touch💛

The restaurant itself is beautiful, with a calm atmosphere, elegant décor and friendly service throughout our visit.

We enjoyed our meal, my favourite dish was papaya salad & the ambience was definitely the highlight. The food was good overall, but I personally felt the pricing was a little high for what we received. I think part of what you’re paying for is the beautiful setting and location ✨

Overall, I’m really glad we gave it a try and had a lovely afternoon together. I’m still undecided on whether I’d return, but I enjoyed experiencing somewhere new.

⭐ 3.8/5

🇰🇷 New Korean spot in Rivonia 🤤

opened on 15 June and is run by a lovely husband & wife team. The menu is small, but honestly every dish we tried was delicious.

We enjoyed the Fried Chicken, the Cheese Balls in the Tteokbokki, the Bulgogi Rice Bowl & everything was well balanced.

Also purchased some kimchi to takeaway and the Traditional Korean teas were so lovely ✨

Sometimes a simple menu means every dish is done really well & that was definitely the case here👏

🛵 Also available on Uber Eats

Definitely worth checking out if you’re craving authentic Korean comfort food 🇰🇷

☕ One of my favourite ways to spend a Saturday morning🌿

If you’re looking for a slower start to the weekend, Le Marché Community Market in Riverclub is always worth a visit.

Held on the first Saturday of every month between 9am–2pm, it’s a charming little community market with fresh produce, handmade goods, local art and delicious French & international food stalls.

🧘‍♀️ Casey Chiang Yoga Studio nearby
☕ Coffee from Beethoven Coffee
🥟 The BEST cheese & sweetcorn (or potato) samosas
🧁 A sweet treat
🛁 A browse through the handmade bath bombs and local artisan stalls

It’s small, relaxed and has such a lovely community feel. Afterwards you can grab breakfast or lunch at or simply enjoy the beautiful park.

🚗 Parking is limited, but many people park along the surrounding streets.

Definitely one of my favourite ✨

My love language is definitely eating with friends😍🥢

There’s just something special about sitting together & sharing dishes and trying a little bit of everything 🥰

We enjoyed a variety of tasty Chinese dishes. I also love that they have a play area, making it a great option for friends with kids too 😃
