A Couple of Foodiez, Sandton (2026)

Hey foodiez, Your favorite Couple of foodiez were one of the lucky peeps chosen to taste and review Govenders in Midrand as part of the BunnyBloggers Easter Bunny special. So today we decided to pay them a visit, on this very gloomy but hot Saturday afternoon we needed a good Bunny chow. JUST MIND OUR CRAZYNESS WE WERE FEELING THE HEAT.

Let's dig in : we were greeted by the sweet Aunty Desrae , the store smelt amazinggg, with lots of their Saturday specials listed including a delicious looking mutton briyani which we were eyeing, we were then served with 2 complimentary 1/4 mutton bunny's to taste with coke ofcourse 😋

Review ,today's bunny's were just delicious.
Curry - delicious with lots of flavor not oily, there was a good amount of meat filled inside the bread and topped with the winner of the curry the well cooked potato.
Bread- soft and fresh , fluffy enough to soak the gravy.
Sides - carrot salad with vinegar chilies.

We also devoured the delicious soji we were spoilt with, which hit that sweet spot.😋😍

Overall it was such a lovely experience, the meeting and greeting and not to mention the delicious bunny chows.
We left with full tummies and a huge smile, thank to The Original Govenders Curry Midrand, we enjoyed the hospitality and the delicious food. Definitely will be going back for more.

Best bunny in Jozi :Bunny tasting 2024😋😍 tasting.
We Kickstarted our bunny tasting experience at the Spice Kitchen restaurant in Rivonia.😋

We judged on the consistency of the curry, the taste, freshness of the bread, well cooked potatoes, and meat(we have eaten at this establishment before, therefore we can judge on consistency).

We ordered the 1/2 mutton bunny for R210. Bunny served with carrot salad and vinegar chilies.

Ratings 🍽

Overall rating 7/10🍻

Curry :7/10 - reason : the curry tasted really good, like an old school Durban curry😋 with a nice kick( which we loved)the meat was well cooked almost Slightly over cooked ,the potatoes however wasn't fully cooked and was hard.☹️( we love a well cooked potato with the gravy soaked in)

Bread :5/10 reason: the bread plays a huge roll in a bunny, it needs to be soft and fluffy on the inside and we don't mind a little hard crust on the outside, however this day the bread was hard and we struggled to break it, which is so unfortunate because we have eaten here before and the bread has always been so fresh.

Service :10/10 : clean eating environment plenty seating , R&B jams playing , and we were attended to by a lovely lady at the counter ,Anne ( we took a picture with her) she is a star served us with a smile. Food was ordered and served within 10 minutes, which is just great when you are super hungry.

We gave feedback to Anne on everything we found about the bunny good and not so good when we were done.

🙏 note we did not inform the restaurant that we will be bunny tasting. We just popped in and ordered a bunny.

Overall, we loved the spice kitchen and will definitely be going back. The vibes are on point, and the food is good. Hopefully, they pick up on our side notes😅😁🫢.
