🥑✨ Snacking done right! ✨🥑

REMEMBER snacking isn’t cheating — it’s fueling. Add these to your meals for extra crunch and nutrients, or grab them solo when hunger strikes between breakfast and lunch (or lunch and dinner 👀).

🥝 CONSTIPATED? TRY KIWI
2 green kiwifruit a day may help get things moving.
Research has found that green kiwifruit can help:
✔️ Increase bowel movement frequency
✔️ Soften stools
✔️ Reduce straining
✔️ Improve abdominal comfort
In clinical studies, 2 green kiwifruit daily improved bowel function in people with constipation and constipation-predominant IBS.
A simple fruit with surprisingly good evidence for supporting regularity. 🥝

CRACKERS AREN’T ALL CREATED EQUAL
Walking down the cracker aisle can be surprisingly confusing — seeded, wholegrain, gluten-free, veggie, sourdough… so which ones are worth putting in your trolley?

We’ve picked a few of our favourites and looked at what makes each one different.
🌱 Some offer more fibre
🥜 Some contain seeds and wholegrains
🥔 Some are a fun veggie-based alternative
🍞 Some are all about that sourdough crunch
But here’s our biggest tip:

Don’t just look at the cracker — look at what you put on it.

For a more satisfying snack, try pairing your crackers with protein + plant food:
🥚 Egg + avocado
🥣 Cottage cheese + tomato
🫘 Hummus + cucumber
🐟 Smoked trout + cucumber

And remember:
Gluten-free doesn’t automatically mean healthier.
Seeded doesn’t automatically mean low calorie.
And “healthy” doesn’t mean unlimited.
There’s no single “best” cracker — it’s about choosing one that fits your needs, your preferences and the way you eat. ❤️
Which one would you put in your trolley? 👇

WORTH PUTTING IN YOUR TROLLEY 🛒🥕
One of our Woolworths finds that makes healthy eating SO much easier!
Woolworths Frozen Ratatouille is a chunky vegetable sauce packed with flavour — and the best part? No chopping, peeling or prep needed. Just heat and eat.
❤️ Why we love it:
• An easy way to get more vegetables into your day
• A brilliant shortcut for busy nights
• Versatile enough to use in so many meals
• Makes it easy to build a more nutritious plate
✨ Try it like this:
🥚 Top with poached eggs for a quick breakfast or lunch
🍗 Serve alongside chicken or fish
🍝 Stir through pasta and add grilled chicken for extra protein
🥔 Spoon over baked potato or mash
🫘 Add chickpeas or lentils for a plant-based protein boost
🥖 Pile onto toasted sourdough and top with eggs
Dietitian tip: A vegetable-based shortcut like this can be a great base for a balanced meal. Just add your protein + a smart carbohydrate and you’re good to go!

Would this make it into YOUR trolley? 👇

🌿 Ready to take the 30 Plant Challenge?

When it comes to gut health, it’s not just about eating more plants—it’s about eating a greater variety of them.

Different plant foods contain different types of fibre and plant compounds, each nourishing different beneficial bacteria in your gut. The more diverse your plant intake, the more diverse your gut microbiome can become.

🌈 This week, challenge yourself to eat 30 different plant foods. Remember, these all count:
🍎 Fruit
🥦 Vegetables
🫘 Beans & lentils
🌾 Wholegrains
🥜 Nuts
🌻 Seeds
🌿 Fresh herbs
🧂 Spices

You might be surprised how quickly they add up—and your gut will thank you!

👇 Tell us in the comments: How many different plant foods do you think you eat in a typical week?

📅 If you’d like personalised guidance on improving your gut health, managing digestive symptoms or building a sustainable eating pattern, book an appointment with the Intelihealth Registered Dietitians. We’d love to help you reach your health goals. www.intelihealth.co.za

Looking after your gut doesn’t have to mean buying expensive supplements. 🌱

One of the best ways to support your gut microbiome is by feeding the beneficial bacteria already living there—and they love prebiotics.

Prebiotics are a type of fibre that act as food for your healthy gut bacteria, helping them grow and thrive. The good news? Many of the best prebiotic foods are affordable and probably already in your kitchen.

Try including more:
🍌 Bananas
🧅 Onions
🥣 Oats
🥬 Cabbage
🫘 Lentils

Remember, a healthy gut is built by the foods you eat consistently—not by expensive products or quick fixes.

Increasing your fibre intake doesn’t have to be complicated! 🌱

Small, consistent changes to your daily meals can make a big difference to your gut health, blood sugar, cholesterol and overall wellbeing.

Try these simple swaps:
🥣 Start your day with a high-fibre breakfast.
🍎 Choose whole fruit instead of fruit juice.
🥕 Add one extra vegetable to every meal.
🫘 Include beans or legumes a few times each week.

Remember, increasing your fibre intake gradually and drinking enough water can help your digestive system adjust comfortably.

Could these be signs your body needs more fibre? 🌾

Fibre does so much more than keep you regular. It plays an important role in supporting your gut microbiome, stabilising blood sugar, improving cholesterol levels and helping you stay fuller for longer.

If you’re experiencing:
✨ Afternoon energy slumps
✨ Rising cholesterol
✨ Bloating or constipation
✨ Constant hunger

…it might be time to take a closer look at your fibre intake.

Small changes—like adding more vegetables, fruit, legumes, wholegrains, nuts and seeds—can make a big difference to your long-term health.
