Delicious salads doesn't have to be planned out far ahead or be expensive!
Today's braai addition was a thrown-together consisting of in-house items:
Leftover shredded cabbage from a function and the last of the seasons sweetpepper julienne from out garden
Grapefruit segments cut from my 10year-old son's ( somewhat unbelievable ) stash in the fridge
Half a wheel of feta to finish the tub and make space in the fridge
A small handful of roasted pumpkin, sunflower, white sesame and canola seed mix ( I always have a small tub ready-to-use in the cupboard. It's a great replacement for expensive nuts and makes a beige bowl of hummus on a platter look like the winning dish on a MasterChef final)
Very thinly sliced raw beetroot half-moons ( see how the colour of the beetroot and Grapefruit compliment each other? )
Freshly picked parsley and nasturtium leaves for some extra colour.
5 minute salad - a fridge cleaner - dirt cheap and so delicious, even the boys's visiting friends ate it.
Don't be intimidated by a salad. And for goodness sake don't be boring.
