The colours of Le Chant are not what you might expect. 🍷

They are not only found in our label, but in people, in nature and in the moments we share.

In the shade of a smile, the texture of clouds and vines, the sound of laughter and the making of memories. Le Chant is colour in motion, shaped by creation, connection and the quiet soul of winemaking. (Cheesy but true)

Could Chenin Blanc possibly be the ultimate Braai wine? Think smoky peri-peri chicken, jaffles or aged t-bone with monkeygland sauce 🤤🔥🍽

Le Chant Wines pays homage to the country’s Chenin Blanc culture through the Le Chant Blanc, made from vines planted in 1983. Old vines bring an extra dimension to the wine, as these hardy plants, which have withstood decades of exposure to the seasons and elements, grow small, tight bunches of berries with concentrated fruit structures and racing acidity.

When vinified and aged in oak barrels – as Le Chant Blanc is – the wines have long, linear presence on the palate, providing fresh white wine pleasure as well as the sort of restraint and focus one expects from a world-class chenin wine, no matter what the grape variety.

Celebrating four years since the publication of The Harvest Table cookbook. What a privilege to be featured in an internationally award-winning title. 🍷 Not just a cookbook, but a culinary experience through South Africa, France and Sicily.

A sneak from the pages of the Harvest Table...
Anyone who has visited the Cape in spring or summer will have experienced the famous southeaster wind blowing through Cape Town and the surrounding towns, beaches and rural areas. For the vineyards of Le Chant, this means almost constant exposure to a gentle maritime breeze during the critical vineyard phases of bud-break, flowering and berry-set. And when the grapes begin to ripen and gain sugars, the mild airflow ensures ripening is slow and easy, resulting in complete phenolic ripeness in the fruit.

Petri Venter, Le Chant’s winemaker, loves this part of the world. ‘I grew up here, and while studying viticulture and oenology at Stellenbosch University, much of the attention was focused on the better-known wards of this region, such as
Simonsberg, Helderberg and Bottelary,’ he says. ‘But since getting to grips with the soils and climate of Polkadraai, as well as the old and established culture of viticulture here, I am realising what a magical place this is: one of the next big addresses in the wine world.’

Same.

Yes, harvest is a mess. But it’s our kind of mess. 🍇

All the grapes for the 2026 vintage are safely in the cellar. Now that nature has played her part, it’s over to us. Between pump-overs, barrels and tanks, the Le Chant team is hard at work shaping the promise of this vintage.

Random question, do you think AI will ever replace the art of making wine? 🍷
