Our goal is first of all to brew the best qualityCraft Beer from the best quality natural ingredients. We are constantly experimenting with different ingredients, processes and exploring new exciting Craft Beer recipes. Lager is the ‘good old faithful’ beer with braais (BBQ’s), but we feel the time is right for lager-drinkers to experiment with the more complex flavours that Craft Beer has to offe
r. A Craft Beer can be as refreshing as a lager on a hot day, it’s all about the choice, e.g. our Noble Pioneer is a perfect refreshing Craft Ale. After enjoying a vast variety of Ales in mostly England, Belgium and Germany, we became even more inspired to brew Craft Beer that have depth in taste, flavour and aroma. We now also experiment with many European hop varieties in our Beers as well. Craft Ales can also surprisingly match well with food, and we will have more about this on our site in the near future. Next time you have a beef steak, try a Pale Ale with it. The mild taste of the steak pairs perfectly with a Pale Ale which offers slight hoppiness, matching the hearty meat. The clean finish of the Ale is also refreshing after the salty meat and beautifully cleans the palate. Our microbrewery in Stellenbosch is currently geared more towards experimentation and recipe trials than large volume production. This ensures that we can change the setup quickly to adapt to different techniques and processes. The next step for Rock Kestrel Brewery, however, is to implement a secondary production line which can be utilised to produce larger volumes as our beer becomes more popular. We will always maintain our more resource intensive and manual trial production setup to ensure things never get boring!
