DESERT HORIZONS

Our Major Series Merlot arrives in Namibia through Namibian Wine Merchants.

Plum and black cherry lead on the nose, with hints of flint, ash and mint. The palate is smooth and generous, layered with dark fruit and vanilla, while gentle oak ageing brings softness and balance to a long finish.

Grown on the warm north-facing slopes of the Helderberg within the Stellenbosch appellation, our Major Series Cabernet Sauvignon reflects the depth and precision achieved through careful site selection, extended ripening and meticulous cellar craftsmanship.

Aged for 16 months in French oak barrels, with a small portion matured in terracotta amphorae, the 2023 vintage reveals layered notes of black plum, cassis leaf, dark cherries and cedar, framed by finely sculpted tannins and mineral freshness, earning Gold at the 2025 Global Cabernet Sauvignon Masters.

INSIDE THE VINOTHÈQUE

Hidden within our Tasting Room, the Vinothèque is home to a carefully curated collection of older vintages alongside selected current releases. It is a space that reflects our long-standing belief in the ageing potential of great Helderberg reds and the quiet evolution that happens over time in bottle.

This week, we have found ourselves returning to the 2014 Signature and the 2020 Major Series Merlot. The Signature continues to show remarkable depth and complexity with age, while the Merlot remains beautifully balanced and expressive in its youth. Revisiting these wines at different stages of their evolution is always a reminder of how thoughtfully they continue to develop over time.

Any of these wines can be enjoyed alongside your meal in the restaurant or purchased to continue the experience in your own cellar at home.

THE RETURN OF THE BIG EASY BURGER

Back for the season and just in time for winter lunches on the Helderberg.

The Big Easy Burger has returned, joining our restaurant mains menu for a limited time, served with hand-cut triple-cooked chips and any glass of wine from the Big Easy range for R285.

This year, the burger consists of a 250g free-range dry-aged beef patty, bacon jam, red wine caramelised onions, biltong mayonnaise and sauce au poivre on a toasted brioche bun.

Big flavours, bold wines and exactly the kind of lunch winter calls for.

Served daily in our Restaurant from 12h00 to 14h30.

AUTUMN IN BLOCK 15B

The leaves are starting to turn in Block 15B, home to our Cabernet Sauvignon Clone 412 and now entering its 12th year on the Helderberg slopes.

First planted in 2014, Clone 412 was the first Cabernet Sauvignon clone from Gironde to be planted commercially in South Africa. Known for its smaller berries and naturally concentrated fruit, it has become an important part of the structure, colour and purity we look for in our Cabernet Sauvignon.

At this time of year, the vineyard starts to slow down after harvest, but there’s still plenty happening behind the scenes. As the vines prepare for winter dormancy, the team is already looking back at how the block performed through the season while planting the cover crops that will grow between the rows over winter.

It’s one of our favourite times in the vineyard. Quieter, cooler, and a reminder that the next vintage begins long before the first grapes arrive at the cellar.

Step inside our Tasting Room and make yourself at home on the Helderberg. Warm, welcoming and designed for slower moments, it’s the perfect place to settle in for a guided wine tasting while taking in sweeping mountain views.

Our winery proudly reflects our style, generosity, and the very essence of our place within the Stellenbosch Wine Region. With three tasting options and a variety of older vintages available for purchase in our Vinothèque, there is always something new to discover and enjoy.

Our Tasting Room is open daily from 10:00 to 17:00, with the last tasting served at 16:00 Monday to Saturday and 15:00 on Sundays. Bookings are only required for groups larger than 8 guests.
