The TASTE & DESIGN AWARDS 2026 will be held in Montreal, Canada, on May 15, 2026.

The FineWaters International Water Tasting Competition TASTE & DESIGN AWARDS 2026 will be conducted with a five-judge panel of professional and experienced international water sommeliers.

Water is not just water. It has terroir, comes from a real place, and has character.

Representing the Fine Water Category, FineWaters and the Fine Water Society developed the blueprint for conducting water tastings, which is the professional industry standard.

We are very sad to report the passing of Simon Woolley, probably best known in the premium water category for founding Antipodes from New Zealand. Simon was a pioneer in the category and a founding member of the Fine Water Society. He was a good friend of mine for more than 20 years, and a colleague to manny people in our category. His passion, warmth, and generosity will truly be missed.

He will be happy to see that Antipodes is in good hands and going strong.

Spring comes late in Montréal …

We all want to have a pleasant time in Montréal, so we followed the advice of the local hosts and moved the Fine Water SUMMIT and the TASTE & DESIGN AWARDS 2026 from Winter into the local Spring.

We have selected a great hotel in the center of the Old Town within walking distance of many sights.

We have a tentative agreement with the Hotel and will sign the contract within a couple of weeks. However, the dates appear to be very firm, and we will host the event from May 15 to 17, 2026, in Montréal.

Restaurants schould take notice that the guests want choices and experiences with water. Alcohol consumption is going down and so are the profits.

Why do restaurants resist giving guests a better experience and choices at the same time as they would make more profit?

I think restaurants are lazy and don't want to change. But change is comming ...

Refreshing or ridiculous? The newest hangover-free indulgence is also the oldest, and some offerings will cost you.
