My recent trip to the UK began at the , an extraordinary event that brings together wines, producers, and industry professionals from all over the world.

It is always great to be part of our UK importer stand, showcasing Catherine Marshall Wines alongside such an incredible portfolio. Over the three long trade days, many wine lovers, friends and customers came by to taste, chat and reconnect. It was wonderful seeing both familiar and new faces, and being reminded once again how special this industry and its people really are.

After London, I went on a two-day trip to Edinburgh to meet with the fantastic team, including Richard, Simon and Clare , who hosted, amongst trade visits to customers, a fabulous brunch pairing and wine tasting event at Great Grog wine shop in the evening. Sharing stories with our wines and spending time together in such an incredible city made the visit very memorable.

I truly value these relationships with clients who have become friends over the years, and I always look forward to visiting your part of the world.

It’s always special to see our wines finding a new home, especially when it’s with people you’ve known and admired for many years.

A huge congratulations to Lara Philp and the team at on the successful launch of South African wines into , one of Angola’s leading retail supermarket groups.

Lara and I go all the way back to our university days, and she has been a long-time supporter of Catherine Marshall Wines. Through her work in both the wine trade and export industry, she has played an important role in sharing South African wines with consumers around the world.

We are delighted to see Catherine Marshall Wines included in this exciting new chapter and represented on the shelves of Candando alongside so many wonderful South African producers.

Thank you to everyone involved in making this possible. We are proud to be part of the journey and excited to see South African wine continue to grow its presence in Angola.

Here’s to great partnerships, lasting friendships and many shared bottles along the way.

Part 3 of my journey in Georgia.

After visiting the large-scale operation at the monastery and seeing how wine has been produced there for centuries, it was fascinating to spend time with a much smaller independent producer, owned and operated by Togo and his family on their own land beneath the Caucasus Mountains.

The winery sits behind their home, where wine, family, art and everyday life are beautifully intertwined. Togo’s wife paints all of the artwork that appears on their labels, tables and doors throughout the property. I loved their collection of art throughout the space.

One of the most remarkable things they showed me was a book hand-painted and handwritten by Togo’s father, documenting the indigenous grape varieties of their region. It was a beautiful showcase of how knowledge, culture and winemaking traditions are passed from one generation to the next.

As we tasted together overlooking the mountains, we explored their qvevri wines, known locally as amber wines. What struck me most was their incredible precision, purity and vitality. The wines were bright, energetic and beautifully tensioned, showcasing a style that feels deeply connected to both the land and the ancient winemaking traditions of Georgia.

It reminded me that while we often focus on soils and sites in South Africa, Georgian winemakers have an equally deep connection to their ancient winemaking traditions. Different stories, different approaches, but the same passion for creating wines that speak of where they come from.

A very special visit and one I won’t forget.

The Oreads takes its name from Greek mythology, the mountain nymphs said to live amongst caves and rocky mountainsides.

Behind my kitchen in Kalk Bay, there’s a hiking trail that winds its way up the mountain through a series of caves. The biggest one is called the Hall of Oreads. I was immediately intrigued by the name and when I discovered its connection to Greek mythology, something I’ve always loved, it felt like the perfect fit for this wine. Sometimes, after a glass or two of Merlot, I swear I can almost see them floating around up there.

The wine is a blend of 73% Merlot from old Stellenbosch vines planted in 1984, together with Cabernet Franc from Elgin. It’s rich and layered, with dark fruit, savoury depth and freshness that keeps drawing you back to the glass.

The label was created by artist Lily Maas as part of one continuous artwork shared with the Jono’s Wave label, the wave flowing into the mountain, two wines connected through place and story.

The Oreads is also part of our June Wine Club box and pairs beautifully with hearty Italian dishes, pasta, gourmet burgers or meats cooked over fire. Make sure to sign up via the link in our bio!

Experiencing the Latitudes Art Fair through Jono’s eyes. Jono recently travelled up to Johannesburg for the Latitudes Art Fair 2026, hosted alongside Design Week South Africa, where we had the honour of serving a collection of our wines throughout the event.

It was incredibly special to be part of something that celebrates African creativity on such a beautiful scale. From browsing the galleries and meeting artists, to chatting with guests stopping by for a glass of wine, the entire weekend felt inspiring from start to finish.

The venue itself was spectacular and the atmosphere was filled with energy, creativity and connection.

A huge congratulations to the .online and team for putting together such a thoughtful and world class showcase. It truly felt like a celebration of some of the very best that Africa has to offer.

Ode to Arges Semillon starts in the vineyard with hand-picked grapes, carefully sorted in the cellar before moving through crushing, pressing and fermentation. Every step is focused on preserving brightness, texture and purity of fruit.

This is the second vintage of the wine, made from fairly old Semillon vines grown in a cool Elgin climate. Fermented in neutral oak, the focus is not on oak flavour, but rather on the character of the grape itself. The result is a wine with bright precision, layered texture and a beautiful mid-palate, making it incredibly versatile alongside food.

The name Arges comes from Greek mythology. One of the three Cyclopes, Arges, was known as the god of brightness, something we felt captured the energy and character of this wine perfectly.

The label artwork was commissioned by to reflect that same brightness and texture within the wine. We celebrated the release of the wine at in Kalk Bay, alongside the original painting, surrounded by great friends, clients, delicious food and plenty of wine.

I started my trip in the south of Japan, in Fukuoka, before heading to Kyoto and the beautiful bamboo forests for a small moment of quiet amongst a very busy schedule.

From there, it was on to Osaka to spend time with incredible Michelin-awarded chefs who have become not only great supporters of our wines, but also firm friends over the years.

From crystal blue waters and peaceful gardens, to local markets, street food and some of the most memorable meals I’ve ever had, Japan always leaves me completely inspired. The attention to detail, the hospitality and the deep appreciation for food and wine is something very special.

It has been a heartwarming trip filled with hard work, meaningful conversations and wonderful connections with both new and old trade clients.

Thank you so much for having me, Japan. Until next time!
