The art of blending lies in understanding what each barrel brings to the w**e.

As the w**es mature, each barrel is tasted individually to assess its character, structure and contribution to the final blend.

It’s a process of careful evaluation, where subtle differences between barrels help shape the balance, complexity and expression of the w**e.

We are deeply saddened by the sudden and unexpected passing of our dear friend, Thys Lombard.

Thys was a much-loved part of the Oldenburg Vineyards family, and his warmth, kindness and infectious enthusiasm will be deeply missed by us all.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends and everyone whose life he touched.

Our Rondekop Una V Chardonnay 2024 has been awarded Second Equal Place at the Judgment of Davis 2026 - the landmark blind tasting held by the University of California, Davis to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the original 1976 Judgment of Paris.

This recognition belongs first to the land itself - to Rondekop, the vineyards, and a philosophy of farming regeneratively and sustainably, with patience and respect for nature.
