BEST OVERALL FOR THE MAJOR SERIES

Our Major Series Cabernet Sauvignon 2024 has been named Best Overall with 95 points in the W**emag Prescient Fund Services Cabernet Sauvignon Report 2026. This follows its 95-point rating from Tim Atkin MW in his South Africa 2026 Special Report.

The report highlights a move towards Cabernet with greater elegance while retaining concentration, structure and individuality. Our newly released 2024 is singled out for its dense fruit, bright acidity and supple tannins, with the panel describing it as “Powerful yet focused and beautifully structured, this is a w**e built to last.”

Louis has worked with Cabernet Sauvignon on the Helderberg since the early 2000s, and his approach continues to evolve with each harvest. From fermentation in Nico Velo concrete tanks to maturation in French oak, Stockinger foudre and terracotta amphorae, he explores how different vessels express the depth and character of Cabernet from our north-facing slopes. This 2024 vintage of Cabernet spent 16 months in 300-litre French oak barrels, 35% new, with small portions matured separately in foudre and amphorae, balancing fruit purity with structure and ageing potential.

Two 95-point ratings and another proud chapter for Louis, the team and our champion Cabernet Sauvignon from the Helderberg slopes.

Completing the DeMorgenzon Estate Reserve Collection

Their 2024 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is a serious single-vineyard Stellenbosch Cabernet from Koffieklip soils, made with darker fruit, firmer structure and long-term cellaring in mind.

For w**emaker Anthony Sanvido, it marks a long-held ambition: to create a Cabernet Sauvignon that is clearly Stellenbosch, but still distinctly DeMorgenzon.
