AUTUMN at Ernie Els Wines 🍂

The leaves are beginning to turn in Block 15B — home to the Ernie Els Cabernet Sauvignon Clone 412, now entering its 12th year on the Helderberg slopes.

First planted in 2014, Clone 412 was the first Cabernet Sauvignon clone from Gironde to be planted commercially in South Africa.

Known for its smaller berries and naturally concentrated fruit, it continues to play an important role in the structure, colour, and purity they seek in thier Cabernet Sauvignon.

WALKING THE ROWS

The Ernie Els Wines Viticulturist Leander Koekemoer and Head Winemaker Louis Strydom walk the Helderberg slopes together.

Granite-rich soils, paired with a Mediterranean climate and cooling coastal influence, give their wines their natural structure, freshness and depth.

A large portion of the vineyard is devoted to Cabernet Sauvignon, with dedicated blocks planted facing north and north-east to absorb as much sunlight as possible, building the fullness and balance that define the Ernie Els style.

Vintage after vintage, their focus remains the same: Cabernet that reflects the true character of the Helderberg’s Golden Triangle.
