Last night’s “Oscars of the Wine Industry” gala was nothing short of magical, as the Veritas judges conferred Double Gold honours upon our Meinert Ironveil Merlot 2020 — a moment of immense pride for our small, passionate, and dynamic team. 🍷

In the world of fine wine, Veritas Awards Double Gold signifies not just excellence, but unanimous acclaim from the judging panel. Congratulations to all the 2025 Veritas Award winners — what a celebration of South African craftsmanship! 🥂

From the very beginning, Ironveil has been our homage to the iron-rich, copper-stained soils of Devon Valley — burnished alluvial clays that lend depth, tension, and a velvet austerity to our Merlot, all wrapped in its signature perfumed veil.

At Meinert, our philosophy has always been site expression — letting the vines, rooted in these ancient ochre soils, tell the story of each vintage. While many of our wines lean toward elegance and perfume, Ironveil stands as our bold statement: a wine that carries the imprint of its ground — powerful, grounded, and poised to evolve.

This Double Gold is more than a medal. It’s recognition of what we believe in — small-scale, hands-on care in the vineyard, minimal intervention in the cellar, and deep fidelity to place.
