Yonder Hill has launched its Pinnacle Reserve blend wine Ankole some years ago. But the true intention was that all the horns shapes, with their Ugandan names, the branding is the Ankole bloodlines Benella owns today. It has come a long way journey and was not an overnight thought or impulsive transaction.

Inspiration for these majestic animals started in March 2012. Publishing a book Cattle of the Ages with President Cyril Ramaphosa. Returning to Uganda in 2019 fetching and loading my own Ankole after traveling Uganda in 2012 for longer than a month visiting more than 20 Ankole breeders and learning so much about this breed and the Nkore culture, it’s deeper than you think. I then went back alone in 2019 and loaded the best combinations each one autistically selected unlinked to each other, however combinations that will superiorly support each other to the utmost maximum level.

Today Benella exclusively owns these bloodlines and genetics without any other breeder involved.

With pairing this past 14 years journey with our best wine - you can just imagine what goes on in my brain.

A Royal Visit & A Proud Ankole Connection 🇺🇬👑🐂

A truly incredible and profound visit.

Princess Olivia Barigye of the Ankole Kingdom of Uganda visited Benella Ankole , and it was an unbelievable honour to welcome her and celebrate the deep heritage and history of the Ankole breed.

Princess Olivia is the daughter of the late John Patrick Barigye, the firstborn son of the last reigning monarch of the Ankole Kingdom. Her grandfather was Sir Charles Gasyonga II of the Ankole Kingdom.

This special visit is a beautiful reminder of the rich history, heritage and royal roots of the Ankole — a breed that continues to make waves and capture hearts here in South Africa. 🇿🇦❤️🇺🇬

The Ankole story is one of heritage, pride and a legacy that continues to grow.

Over this past weekend I had the most incredible and profound visit on Benella. Princess Olivia Barigye from the Ankole Kingdom of Uganda came to visit me it was an unbelievable honor. The Ankole is making waves in South Africa!

Her late father, John Patrick Barigye was the 1st born son of the last reigning monarch of the Ankole Kingdom. And her grandad was Sir Charles Gasyonga Il from the Ankole Kingdom.
