We are bursting with pride that the Fleur du Cap Laszlo 2019 was awarded Wine of the Year in the Bordeaux Red Blend category and received a five-star rating at the much-anticipated Platter’s by Diners Club South African Wine Guide 2023 award ceremony.

We agree with our winemaker, Tammy Claasen, that this is an incredible achievement, especially if one considers the world-class wines that have been awarded five stars in the category. The Fleur du Cap Laszlo 2019 is rich and full-bodied with intense aromas of cherry and red plums with hints of pencil shavings and to***co notes. The tannins are lush but firm with a lingering ripe fruit finish.

The Fleur du Cap Essence Merlot 2020 was awarded a Double Gold medal at the 26th annual Michelangelo International Wine & Spirits Awards. This is a truly remarkable feat – to outshine almost 86% of all entries received in Africa’s largest and most prestigious wine & spirits competition.

This full-bodied, ruby coloured red has aromas of cherries, plums and black olives on the nose, underlined by elegant oak spices. On the palate this well-balanced wine is velvety soft with abundant layers of fruit and a touch of underlying oak that lingers on the finish.

The Fleur du Cap Unfiltered Merlot 2019 took top honours at the SA Terroir Awards as the Best Merlot. The Terroir Wine Awards, now in its 17th year, portrays and rewards the unique origins of the wines made across the diverse terroir landscape of the Cape Winelands.

Our winemaker, Tammy Claasen, said the grapes for the Unfiltered Merlot were sourced from Cape Town, an area ideally suited for the style of Merlot they were envisioning.
The Unfiltered Merlot is deep ruby red with a bright hue, multiple layers of dark fruit such as plum and blackcurrant with hints of oak spice unravel on the nose. The palate is plush, rich, and velvety with well-balanced fruit and supple ripe tannins that will allow for excellent aging potential.
