25 Years • Real People, Real Wine

In 2001, our very first vintage was made in a tractor shed — just 600 cases of Pinotage.

We started close to home, sourcing the best grapes we could find, from unirrigated bush-vines in our own backyard, the Agter-Paarl.

Twenty-five years later, the MAN family has grown, but not much has changed. We still make honest, everyday wines.

And wherever they end up…
🥂 at a table with friends,
🍷 a local wine bar,
🍇 or as part of a simple meal
…they find real people. Just like the ones who made them.

Mid-November is a crucial time in the growing season. Flowers on the vines turn into small fruit, which in turn, becomes bunches of grapes to be harvested early in the new year.

The MAN Merlot is a small yet mighty part of our line-up. It shows notes of red & black fruits, light spice and some mocha aromas, balanced by elegant, juicy tannins, making it an extremely drinkable wine to enjoy this Merlot Day.

We caught up with our assistant winemaker, Tom. In the cellar, the team is focused on carefully checking barrels and monitoring progress. Out in the vineyards, young vines are being prepared for the season ahead.
With the 2026 vintage drawing closer, there’s a mix of excitement and anticipation in the air.

The results of the 2025 Shiraz SA Challenge, South Africa’s benchmark competition for Shiraz, were announced on Thursday, 7 August. The MAN Shiraz was included in the Top 12, representing the rising excellence of South African Shiraz.

At only R99 per bottle, the MAN Skaapveld Shiraz is incredibly easy to enjoy - layers of red fruit, subtle spices, and soft tannins. Add it to your winter wine list and get cozy by the fireside or open a bottle with your favourite braai.

Happy Women’s Day to the incredible women behind the name: (M)arie, (A)nette and (N)icky 🌸

The name, MAN Family Wines, is more than branding - it’s a tribute. When co‑founders José Conde and brothers, Tyrrel and Philip Myburgh launched the label in 2001, they coined “MAN” using the initials of their wives to keep peace at home while weekend winemaking adventures took over. “It’s for you!” they told them, and mostly, it’s true.
