It is well known for its pristine beauty, eagle & leopard conservation programs & eco friendly farming methods as well as adventure events & accommodation. BUCKLANDS GUEST FARM is a 5th generation Horn family farm, in the Steytlerville district, Eastern Cape, South Africa. The farm lies in the south eastern corner of the Great Karoo, bordering the Kamdeboo on our north, and the Baviaans Kloof, on

our south. The area is of great ecological importance, as it is home to about 7000 plant species, incorporating 5 plant biomes. It is also home to some of the last remaining Cape Mountain Leopards, and the pristine beauty is further enriched by remnants of prehistoric history, Khoisan paintings and artefacts, and some colonial history. Bucklands is a working sheep farm, but we frequently host various adventure sport events under the name of Buckaroo Adventure Sports, which has it’s own page on this website. So, opportunities for a visit are endless; you can come to rest and relax in one of 3 chalets and some camps, or hike the amazing Groot Rivier Poort Hiking Trail over 2 to 5 days, come play on the 4x4 courses, bring your mountain bike to explore or do the fast growing Cockscomb Classic MTB. It's been a hectic 2 months of preparation, building and fixing hiking trails and roads, but the Mountain Club is here and had the first meeting tonight around the fires on Bucklands. Great people and excellent organization!

Hannes skryf: “2025 was ekologies gesproke 'n baie goeie jaar op Bucklands. Een van die hoogtepunte was die besoek van Keystone Produksies se filmspan met Sam Chevallier aan die stuur van sake. Hulle vertel die stories van ekologiese suksesverhale in Afrika, en die stories is mooi en goed vertel.
Ons storie het al baie gegroei sedert die video gemaak is. Met die hulp van E2A en die IDC werk- spanne spaar ons nou ongeveer 1 miljoen liter water elke keer as dit 15mm of meer reën, en maak reeds 'n verskil aan erosie en veldbedekking. Ons hoop om in hierdie nuwe jaar spoed op te tel en 'n verskil te maak wat die veld verdien, en waarop ons nageslag kan voortbou. “
