So we are back to our winter work.We once again have our clean working rows and rows sown with oats. This alternates every year. We are busy throwing green material in the vineyard to mulch. Pre pruning is starting now and all the shoots are thrown in the vineyard row and ploughed into the ground with a light spread of dolomitic lime. **es **emaking **e **elands **esa **ecountry

Braised lamb shanks

What better way to enjoy the winter than with the noble lamb shank!

We used some SMG 2020,which will be released shortly,in this dish.

This dish pairs really well with a bold Bordeaux blend with a smooth tannic structure.
This is where our Connor Cab/Malbec/Petit Verdot 2018 comes in.
A powerful,yet classy blend. **es **e **e **e

Cabbage and eisbein stew with potatoes

So another hearty winter meal is ofcourse a stew.

Smoking brings another flavour profile and pork loves a bit of smoking!

A lovely cheaper option of smoked pork is your eisbein and it simply loves to pair with cabbage and potato in a stew.

A perfect partner for this German style stew is a fruit driven, spicy Pinotge.
Our Oupa Bull Pinotage Reserve 2017 is a stately expression of this proudly South African Variety.

Winter is venison time and what better way to celebrate than Wildebeest liver in a bacon and onion gravy on a bed of mash!

To match this “wild one” we need  something to balance the sweetness of the liver and onions.

Additionally we need to complement the iron flavour of the liver.

Look no further than our very own David Arthur “Shifty”Shiraz 2017.

So today its the turn of our Oupa Bull Pinotage to be harvested. A slow ripening has resulted in an unusually late harvest date. Yesterday saw the 1st lightening of the year which usually signifies the changing of the seasons. So probably time to get on with it! **es **elands **e **e **estories **emaker **efarm
