Some evenings feel less like an event and more like stepping into a dream, and the Candlelight Concerts by Fever at KWV_Cathedral Cellar was exactly that. 🎻🕯️🎶🍷
Beneath towering oak barrels and the grandeur of a cathedral cellar, where stained glass windows caught the soft glow of ambient light, thousands of flickering candles transformed the space into something almost sacred. Wherever you looked, candlelight danced across the room, warming the cellar and setting the stage for a truly exquisite evening.
As the first violins began to warm the air, their notes floated gently through the cellar, wrapping around us like silk. In that moment, I was transported back to my ballet days, memories stirred by the familiar swell of strings and the emotion only a violin can awaken. This particular concert paid tribute to the timeless magic of ABBA and the legendary sounds of Queen, reminding me how these candlelight performances are always evolving, each one inspired by different artists, bands, and musical eras.
Of course, no evening at KWV would be complete without exceptional food and wine. We were thoroughly spoiled with a Turkish-inspired harvest platter for two, rich flavours, beautiful textures, and wines that felt perfectly at home in the heart of Paarl. It truly felt like a match made in heaven, candlelight concerts and KWV, music, wine, and atmosphere woven seamlessly together.
From the glow of every candle to the echo of every note, it was a night where time seemed to pause. A once-in-a-lifetime experience, a feast for the senses, and a memory that will linger long after the final violin fell silent. 🕯️🍷🎻
