Why Coke?
We’v been asked a few times ‘Why Coke at the Raats Driveway Market?’
Because sometimes a brand is more than just a product. It’s a little bit of nostalgia, history and fun.
For generations, Coca-Cola has been part of people’s lives — something associated with good memories, gatherings and simple pleasures.
Coca-Cola began way back in 1886, originally created as a pharmacy drink. Over the years, its distinctive lettering, familiar red and white colours and unmistakable contoured bottle became part of its identity.
Very little has changed about the way we recognise this iconic brand.
And perhaps that’s what we love about it.
At the Raats Driveway Market, we’re creating something that is about good things and good memories — fresh produce from the farm, sourdough made the old-fashioned way, pastries from the kitchen, flowers, coffee, local art and people gathering around a table.
But perhaps more importantly, we’re creating a place where people connect on a human level.
We sit around a table. We have a coffee. We chat. We catch up with friends, meet new people and sometimes have conversations with complete strangers.
It’s a simple thing, but it’s something that feels increasingly rare. So much of modern life happens through a screen, a message or a quick transaction. That old-fashioned art of simply sitting down and talking to one another is getting lost along the way.
And that’s partly why Coke feels so at home here.
When the opportunity came to bring Coke into our market, it felt like a little bit of old-fashioned fun — and that just felt right.
Coke has been part of people’s lives for generations — part of family gatherings, picnics, celebrations and simple everyday moments.
Some things don’t need reinventing.
Fresh produce. Good coffee. Sourdough made the old-fashioned way. Good people around a table.
And, on a warm Saturday morning, an ice-cold Coke.
Sometimes you really can’t beat the classics. ❤️
