TEMBISA FOOD TOUR RESCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY
The Tembisa Food Tour and Tembisa Shisanyama event has been officially rescheduled to Saturday, May 2, 2026, following a forecast of inclement weather.
Organisers made the strategic decision to move the festivities after reports indicated a 75% chance of rain, prioritising the safety and enjoyment of the community. In a statement addressed to stakeholders and the public, the organisers expressed their commitment to hosting a secure environment, particularly as the event is designed to be family-friendly and will host many children throughout the day.
Despite the shift in the calendar, the organisers promise that the event will retain its original spirit, offering the same high energy and vibrant atmosphere that fans have come to expect.
Attendees can look forward to sampling a diverse array of culinary offerings from Thembisa’s finest restaurants under much clearer skies.
To ensure the best experience, the public is encouraged to arrive early, as the market gates are set to open at 12:00 PM. The organisers have also confirmed that entry remains free for everyone, though they have specified that children will only be permitted on the premises until 5:00 PM.
In addition to the food and entertainment, the event maintains a flexible policy regarding outside beverages. While local vendors will be the main attraction, guests are permitted to bring their own coolers, subject to a R150 corkage fee.
As the community prepares for the weekend, the message from the Tembisa Food Tour remains one of resilience and celebration, turning a potential weather-related setback into an opportunity for a sun-filled day of local culture and gastronomy.
