Winter seems to be taking the weekend off.

With sunshine in the forecast, we’re looking forward to long lunches, a glass of Chenin, and dishes like our fresh kingklip served with roasted baby potatoes and seasonal greens.

The storm has finally passed. ⛈️

Over the last few days, Rijk’s experienced the highest rainfall ever recorded in the farm’s history, along with some of the heaviest rainfall Tulbagh has seen in many years. With it came flooding, damage, and a few difficult days for the farm and our team.

But slowly, things are settling again. The skies have cleared, the rivers have calmed, and the rebuilding begins.

Farming constantly reminds us how much is out of our control but also how resilient a place, and the people behind it, can be.

Our thoughts are with everyone in the valley and surrounding areas who have been affected by the storm over the past few days.

Thank you to everyone who checked in on us, we’re incredibly grateful. 🙏

Introducing our Chenin Estate 2025.

A new release, and part of a new chapter for Rijk’s, one we look forward to sharing with you soon.

Grown, harvested, made, and bottled here on the estate, it is a true expression of place and vintage.

The 2025 vintage is balanced and expressive, with stone fruit, citrus, and a fresh mineral finish.

Handled gently in the cellar, allowing the vineyard to speak for itself.

Available now online and from our tasting room.

In the cellar at the moment.

Fermentations still ticking along, everything slowly finding its place after harvest. Just time, patience, and a lot of checking in.

Early mornings in the vineyards. 🌱

This week we have started planting our cover crops.

Planted between the vineyard rows, cover crops help build healthier soils, improve structure, retain moisture, and prevent erosion, while also encouraging biodiversity and natural balance in the vineyard during the quieter months.
