Peter's Gate Herbal Centre is a South African Herbal Experience with the largest variety of herb plants in Kwa-Zulu Natal and one of the largest in South Africa. We invite you to attend one of our soap making courses or any other herb course available, or reflect within as you walk our beautiful gardens. We sell Herb plants, herbal gifts, medicinal teas, creams, tinctures, and herbal cosmetics, books and natural soap. Enjoy the magnificent view over the Caversham Valley.

After the quiet of winter, our growing tunnels are bursting back to life and ready for a new season.

Our range of herb plants are available in store as well as available to order online (as per availablity).

So, no matter where you are in South Africa you can now bring a little piece of Peter’s Gate into your own garden. From everyday kitchen favourites to herbs traditionally grown for their uses around the home, there’s plenty to choose from.

All grown right here on our farm, with the same care and intention that goes into everything we make.

Behind every Peter's Gate product is a pair of hands that has lovingly measured, mixed, created and packaged it.

This is Geoff Makin, co-owner of Peter's Gate, or as he's affectionately known by our staff, Mkhulu.

While many know him as the friendly face around the farm, countless hours are spent behind the scenes carefully crafting and packaging the natural products that fill our shelves.

From herbal creams and soaps to oils, teas and so much more, Mkhulu believes that every product should leave Peter's Gate reflecting the care and attention with which it was made. It's a labour of love that has been at the heart of our family business for nearly three decades.

Whether you visit us in the beautiful KwaZulu-Natal Midlands or shop from the comfort of your home, you're receiving products that have been made with passion, integrity and a genuine love of nature.

Twenty-nine years ago, on 21 June 1997, our family left the heat of Phalaborwa for the frosty KwaZulu-Natal Midlands in search of a different way of life—one that gave us more time together and the chance to build something meaningful.

What began as a dream grew into Peter's Gate Herb Farm. The name, inspired by our beautiful view over the Caversham Valley, implies a glimpse over heaven. Along the way we've grown thousands of herbs, welcomed wonderfully supportive visitors, turned customers into friends, and even shared the farm with some unforgettable characters—including Wimbledon, the strawberry-loving grey duiker!

To celebrate 29 wonderful years and the most supportive customers we're giving away a special gift! A R1000 gift voucher to spend on product and plants.

If you have visited our Herbal Centre recently you may have spotted a new little face around 😺

After the loss of our beloved Granny, Gracie was left without her person. But as nature so often reminds us, everything in life finds its place. Enter Gracie, who has quietly appointed herself as our new Centre Cat.

You'll often find her snoozing among the herbs, soaking up the sunshine, supervising the plants, and greeting visitors with her gentle presence.

We think Granny would approve. 💛
