These are our happy hens…. but

As with most things our egg enterprise is also faced with some challenges, one of the biggest being predators such as mongoose, jackal, caracal, cats and birds of prey. We’ve implemented many strategies to guard our hens against these.
The next challenge that has an effect on our dairy enterprise is the damage to the pasture. The hens dig dig dig to make dust baths (we need to improve our use of diatamatious earth for artificial dust baths). It is essential to ensure the highest level of efficiency for the dairy enterprise, pasture being a key player.

So we’re trying to build a system that will aid in moving the trailer more than once a day without the current complications. We think the solution will be to make the electric net surrounding the hens movable along with the trailer with minimum effort. Fingers crossed, let’s see.
