Its the final countdown to the 18th Vaal Wine Expo ... we are so excited to welcome you!

There's lots on the go this Saturday at the Expo including the interesting stalls to browse through in-between the wine tasting stands:

🍷 Vaal River cruises will run the entire afternoon from the Stonehaven pier. Use your complimentary Vaal Wine Expo voucher for a FREE 30 minute river cruise on the day (or use the same voucher for a R50 meal instead). Kids and designated drivers can buy cruise tickets at R50.00 at the Expo Ticket Desks.

We all love a good boerewors roll! These loaded boerie rolls are filled with spice, sweet and tangy notes from the pineapple salsa. This is definitely something worthy to try other than a traditional boerie roll filled with caramelised onions.

Serves 6

Ingredients:
6 boerewors pieces
1 pineapple, chopped
½ cucumber, chopped
½ red onion, chopped
1 handful coriander, chopped
Juice of half a lemon
Salt and pepper to taste
½ cup Makhamisa Hot (TJERR) Relish
6 hot dog rolls
Pickles of your choice, optional

Method:
Scorch the boerewors on a hot griddle with minimal cooking oil until it is cooked and set it aside.

Chop pineapples, cucumber, red onion and coriander. Place them in a bowl and squeeze fresh lemon juice, season and mix well.

Cut a slit in the hot dog rolls, spread Makhamisa Tjerr Relish on the bun, place the boerewors and top with pineapple salsa and pickles (optional) to add a sour element to the loaded roll and enjoy.

For abafana that are not so hot, our mild relish has the perfect combo of Jalapeno, Chutney, Garlic and secret spices to make our recipe.

Switch up your Kota game by replacing the archa with our flavourful Makhamisa relish. Add your favourite toppings to make yours . Choose between our 3 flavours ranging from mild to hot!

Ingredients:

1 loaf white bread, sliced in quarters
Cooking oil, for frying
2 cups hand cut chips
1 teaspoon chips seasoning
1 russian sausage
1 slice polony
2 tablespoons Makhamisa Ncaaa Relish
¼ cup grated cheese

Method:
Heat oil and fry the russian sausage for 1-2 minutes on all sides.

Add cooking oil in the pan enough for frying the chips. Once it’s lightly golden brown, transfer onto the paper towel to drain.

Slice bread into quarters. Remove the inside of the bread and lightly toast. (This will be used to close the kota after assembling)

Spread relish on the base of the bread

Top with polony, russian sausage, chips and sprinkle cheese on the hot chips and close using the toasted bread slice and devour.

Best served hot.
