🚨 Villiersdorp Water Crisis – A Call for Community Action

Villiersdorp is facing a critical water emergency, and we urgently need the community’s help.

Six months ago, the Chamber warned the Municipality that both town boreholes were non‑operational, the Kommissiekraal extraction system had been vandalised, and the town was exceeding its irrigation quota. Today, the situation is even more serious: farmers have had their quotas cut by 30%, and the risk of losing municipal water access is real.

A new borehole has been drilled, but the Municipality did not procure the pump or plan the connection to the purification plant. The Chamber has already spent over R30,000 on emergency work, but the pump is beyond repair and must be replaced immediately - this was carried out by the VSBBV but now all funds are depleted.

We are appealing to the community to help us raise the remaining funds needed to reimburse the Ratepayers Group, install, and activate the new pump so that Villiersdorp’s taps do not run dry.

💧 Please consider donating any amount you can:

The Villiersdorp Tourism Association will match community donations up to R5,000 to support this urgent cause.

Tourism Villiersdorp and the VSBBV continue to work together behind the scenes on major challenges such as potholes, litter, and town maintenance — but right now, securing water is the top priority.

We also encourage all residents to join the VSBBV for only R100 per year so that even more can be done for our town.

Ready for summer and chilled days at the dam

17/09/2025

A cloudy spring day in on the , and at the Pear Dam lots is going on. Cleaned most of the reeds for better swimming and doggie playing, and many new pear orchards planted. The Pear Dam will be filled up in October after a very dry winter :(. Theewaterskloof Dam is hovering at around 90% and is accessible as usual from De Rust. Looking forward to welcoming you this season, and as a base for exploring the Overberg you won’t get a more central stay.

Getaways and holidays with our four legged friends!
On the banks of the Theewaterskloof Dam, the farm is perfect for long walks in the orchards and splashing in the dam whilst soaking up the sun. A great location as a base to explore the Overberg from, with fully fenced in gardens (and farm) for peace of mind when stepping out. The Villiersdorp restaurants are all fur kid friendly too

It’s that time of year again where there’s a bunch of events lined up, in the town and surrounds, such as at Stettyn Family Vineyards and the Theewater Sports Club. Start planning, because accommodation gets very limited in during season ⛵️ ⛳️ 🚜
