A South African original. A heritage worth savouring. 🍷

This Saturday, 10 October, celebrate International Pinotage Day with La Cave Pinotage 2021 - a distinguished expression of South Africa’s signature grape, produced by Wellington W**es.

Rooted in Professor Abraham Izak Perold’s pioneering work with Pinot Noir and Cinsaut, locally known as Hermitage, Pinotage’s story stretches back more than a century. Today, it carries our w**emaking heritage to tables around the world.

Our current release, La Cave Pinotage 2021, honours that legacy with depth, precision and beautifully balanced richness. Its deep purple colour introduces aromas of plums, red berries, exotic spice and earthy beetroot, layered with coffee bean and vanilla. Fine-grained tannins and integrated oak frame a lingering finish of juicy ripe plums and red fruits.

La Cave Pinotage 2021 is now on special for R150 - normally R195.

Deep purple in colour, this beautifully balanced Pinotage offers inviting aromas of ripe plums, red berries, exotic spice and earthy beetroot, complemented by notes of coffee bean and vanilla. The palate is rich and focused, with finely grained tannins, integrated oak and a long, juicy finish of ripe plum and red fruit.

We’re delighted to share that our La Cave Pinotage 2021 will be featured at one of South Africa’s most prestigious red w**e tasting events - Caroline’s 2026 Red W**e Review.

Now in its 38th year, this celebrated showcase brings together 90 of the Cape’s finest flagship red w**es, with each participating producer presenting just one exceptional w**e.

Join our w**emakers Erik van Wyk and Christo Smit for an unforgettable evening of world-class South African reds, where w**e lovers can meet the passionate people behind the labels and taste some of the country’s most acclaimed w**es under one roof.

Every year on the second Saturday of June, w**e lovers around the world raise a glass to one of the most versatile white grape varieties — Chenin Blanc. From crisp and refreshing to rich, wooded, sparkling or sweet, Chenin truly has a style for every palate.
