We had a fantastic evening at Wellington Terroir’s Meet the Winemaker evening, where our Senior Winemaker, Daniel Slabber, guided guests through an exclusive tasting of our celebrated La Cave range. 🍷

🍷 New Vintage Release: La Cave Shiraz 2021 🍷

The wait is over - our bold and expressive La Cave Shiraz 2021 has officially arrived. Crafted from a single, low-yield vineyard and matured for 18 months in French oak, this vintage is a true reflection of precision winemaking and Wellington terroir.

Expect deep ruby hues and an inviting bouquet of mulberries, plums, bramble fruit and exotic spice, layered with a subtle hint of liquorice. The palate is rich and generous, with juicy notes of blueberries, black cherries and roasted coffee beans, all supported by structured, well-integrated tannins. The finish? Long, savoury, and unmistakably memorable.

Perfect alongside roast lamb, sticky pork ribs, steak with pepper sauce, spicy sausages or aged cheeses - this is a wine built for indulgent moments.

After a long wait… it’s finally here.

The La Cave Pinotage 2021 has arrived — and it was well worth the patience.

An inviting deep purple in the glass, this wine opens with classic Pinotage allure: ripe plums, red berries, exotic spice, and a subtle earthy beetroot note. Layers of coffee bean and vanilla from carefully integrated oak add depth and intrigue.

The palate is precise and focused, with finely grained, mouth-coating tannins and beautifully balanced structure. The finish lingers with juicy, ripe plum and red fruit, delivering a dense yet elegant expression of Pinotage.

Sourced from Certified Heritage Vineyards (1979–1984) and matured for 12 months in French oak with regular bâtonnage, this wine showcases depth, texture and beautifully integrated oak.
