La Cave - premium range Our history dates back to 1906, 1907 and 1941 when Wellington Co-operative Winery, Bovlei Co-operative and Wamakersvallei Wines were founded respectively. The accomplishments of each winery, together with a passion for wine and shared interest in enriching the Wellington Wine industry, led to the three wine giants combing forces, merging in 2013 to form Wellington Wines. Our 56 member farmers across Wellington and neighbouring areas of the Swartland and Paarl, work closely with our winemakers and viticulturists to ensure only the best grapes are grown and hand-selected for their outstanding quality. Our ranges all carry the trademark of true quality, inspired by the people, the terroir and the rich history of our valley.

Duke is celebrating five medals at the 36th annual Veritas Awards, held on 10 October 2026 - the “Oscars” of the South African w**e industry!

Leading the celebration is our Gold-winning Duke Bush Vine Chenin Blanc 2026, crafted from old vines in Certified Heritage Vineyards planted in 1986. Forty years of vineyard heritage, with a golden seal of approval.

A South African original. A heritage worth savouring. 🍷

This Saturday, 10 October, celebrate International Pinotage Day with La Cave Pinotage 2021 - a distinguished expression of South Africa’s signature grape, produced by Wellington W**es.

Rooted in Professor Abraham Izak Perold’s pioneering work with Pinot Noir and Cinsaut, locally known as Hermitage, Pinotage’s story stretches back more than a century. Today, it carries our w**emaking heritage to tables around the world.

Our current release, La Cave Pinotage 2021, honours that legacy with depth, precision and beautifully balanced richness. Its deep purple colour introduces aromas of plums, red berries, exotic spice and earthy beetroot, layered with coffee bean and vanilla. Fine-grained tannins and integrated oak frame a lingering finish of juicy ripe plums and red fruits.

This Saturday, 10 October, we’re celebrating International Pinotage Day - Duke style!

Born in South Africa in 1925, Pinotage began when Professor Abraham Izak Perold crossed Pinot Noir with Cinsaut, then known locally as Hermitage. More than a century later, this proudly homegrown grape gives us plenty to celebrate, including its ability to surprise.

Meet our two expressions:

Duke Pinotage brings plum, mulberry and black cherry flavours, with a touch of spice.

Duke White Pinotage offers a different take, with cherry, raspberry and peach notes. Serve it chilled for those sunny spring afternoons.

Produced by Wellington W**es, both bring plenty of character in the relaxed, easy-drinking style that makes Duke feel right at home at your table.

We’re thrilled to share that Wellington W**es’ La Cave Pinotage 2024 has been named one of the 2026 Absa Top 10 Pinotage winners.

Even more special? This is the tenth time La Cave Pinotage has secured a coveted Top 10 place in one of South Africa’s most prestigious Pinotage competitions.

And what a year to do it.

The 2026 Absa Top 10 Pinotage Competition marks its 30th edition, celebrating three decades of excellence and 300 winning w**es since the competition began in 1997.

To see La Cave Pinotage once again standing proudly among South Africa’s best is a milestone worth raising a glass to.
