Sweet Corn Potato Bake a Truter-Filmalter Classic
This dish isn’t in any cookbook, but it’s legendary in our circle. A creamy, golden sweet corn and potato bake that’s been shared, tweaked, and perfected between the Filmalters and Truters over the years. It’s ridiculously easy, budget-friendly, and endlessly adaptable – the kind of side that shows up at every braai and always gets second helpings. It might not be famous, but it’s ours… and I have a feeling it’s the kind of recipe our grandchildren will still be making one day

Hugo visiting Sybasberg, where our Pinotage grows, sits at around 500 meters above sea level.
Imagine standing halfway up the iconic Table Mountain, that’s the kind of altitude our vines enjoy.
And it’s not just high - it’s cool.
Literally, because the temperatures are lower up there, and figuratively, because the grapes ripen slowly, building flavour and balance.

Cool climate = Cool wine.

This slower ripening gives our Pinotage its signature depth and elegance, a wine shaped by patience and altitude.
