A classic washed Ethiopia 🇪🇹 Yep, that’s the new Miriga washed from Alo Coffee. Our first of 5 lots we’ve purchased from them this year!

In the cup, we found layers of stone fruits like white peach and apricot (🍑, followed by bright citrus notes of grapefruit, mandarin, and bergamot (🍊) on filter and espresso. The washed process keeps the finish clean and crisp! 👌🏽 As a milky the citrus notes soften and give way to a rich maple syrup sweetness, making for a lekker balanced and tasty milk based coffee.

COLOMBIA EL PUENTE NATURAL 🇨🇴

Hello Untitled 80. And what a nice blast from the past! 🤩

El Puente Natural was one of our very first releases back in 2021 and we’re very chuffed to have it back again!

This one is a blend of the Caturra, Colombia, Castillo and Bourbon varietals and goes through the Natural process. As was the case in the past, there’s a bit of funkiness in this one and is good in pretty much every brew method. The video explainer will go into more detail but for now, grab it online or come and taste it in store 💪🏽☕️

Kiamwangi is such a lekker contrast to Thunguri! CLASSIC natural vs washed comparison 💪🏽

It is an absolute banger on filter 🔥 And holds up well as expresso and milk!

On both filter and espresso, this coffee showcases ripe mango and vibrant tropical fruit juice, delivering a juicy sweetness 🟠 The acidity is bright and refreshing, balanced by a silky body and a clean, lingering finish. With milk, the fruit softens into a creamy dessert-like sweetness, rich vanilla ice cream wrapped in a cone chocolate shell reminiscent of a King Cone ice cream 🍦

Euan also gives us a little roasters note to go with it! 🗒️

We’ve got a lot of catching up to do, starting with our new Kenya lots from kamavindicoffee! 🇰🇪 We’ve gotten some amazing feedback on Thunguri AB Washed.

On espresso and filter, this coffee shows a vibrant blackcurrant character with bright citrus bringing lift and structure 🟣🟠 As it opens up, a caramelised sugar sweetness rounds everything out, giving the cup balance and depth. In milk, it shifts into something softer and more nostalgic, reminiscent of a Crunchie biscuit - sweet, lightly honeyed, and still lively enough to carry through 🍯

3RD PLACED BARISTA IN SA 🥉🇿🇦

Yes we may look (very) tired but our hearts are full 💚 Hee Ye placed 3rd overall at the SCASA | Specialty Coffee Association of Southern Africa National Barista Championships today (after placing 5th last year) 💪🏽🤩 Two steps closer to the title!

We’re very proud of Hee Ye’s hard work and performance. For those of you that have been served by her in our spaces, you’ll know that she’s one of the friendliest people you’ll ever meet. And she has the coffee knowledge and skill to back it up 💁🏻‍♀️

In addition, we want to say a few thanks :

CEDAR CHATS 5.0 🗣️

We are very please to welcome Miguel Vicuna for our 5th edition of Cedar Chats next Saturday! 😎

Miguel is what we would called a seriously seasoned coffee pro. If you check out his IG bio you’ll see he’s a green coffee buyer and Q-Grader Sweet Bloom Coffee Roasters , a head judge and rep for World Coffee Championships (you’ll see him in the background as head judge for many of the WBC finals rounds 🏆) AND he’s a Specialty Coffee Association AST teaching a few different modules.

That’s quite the CV but the best thing about him is that he’s just such a lekker bra! 🥹 We’ve had him over at the roastery back in the day and he’ll be back in CT next weekend to hang out with us.

You can expect to hear Miguel’s journey in coffee, a Q&A session and a dialing in / calibration session (filter, espresso and milk) with some tasty coffees he’ll be bringing with! 🤩

This would be VERY beneficial for both barista and brewers cup competitors, baristas, cafe owners, roasters and coffee enthusiasts. Light snacks will also be served as always 👌🏽
