Company Brief

• Hope Springs Farms Ltd is a commercial farming entity with an extremely aggressive growth plan. The main farm is located in Chambeshi (Muchinga Province) but there are also farms located in other parts of Zambia - including the Chisamba area. Current operations include Livestock, Poultry, Food Crops and Farm Trees.
• Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons for the position of Farm Supervisor.
• The successful candidate will be responsible supervision of farm operations, including crop and animal care. The individual will also be responsible for ensuring that farm activities are conducted in a safe manner and in accordance with best practices in the industry.

The Supervisor's responsibilities will include:
• Supervising farm personnel: Assigning tasks to farm workers, such as tending to plants, feeding and treating animals, and monitoring their work to ensure that quality work is performed in an efficient and safe manner. Supervision of farm personnel includes drawing and monitoring staff rosters, hours, performance, and resolving any grievances
• Managing crops:
Overseeing the cultivation, planting, harvesting, marketing and selling of crops
• Managing animals: Working with a Veterinary Officer to coordinate the care, feeding, and breeding of farm animals
• Maintaining records: Preparing and maintaining records and reports regarding farm conditions, machinery, and any other operational issues
• Maintaining facilities: Monitoring the maintenance program for farm facilities, machinery, and equipment
• Ensuring safety: Ensuring farm safety, food safety and security, and bio-security procedures are followed
• Meeting deadlines: Ensuring deadlines are met for activities such as seeding and harvesting
• Communicating with managers: Conferring with managers to coordinate activities with other farm units
• Performing general farm duties: The supervisor will also be expected to perform general farm duties whenever necessary.

Minimum Qualification/Requirements
• Diploma/Certificate in General Agriculture or related field
• 2+ years’ relevant hands-on farm work experience. Prior experience coordinating farm operations and/or supervising a group of farm workers will be an added advantage
• Extremely passionate about modern Agric trends and practices
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Basic computer literacy and familiarity with modern communication tools
