*****DID YOU KNOW FRIDAY***

🐖 PIGS are smarter than your DOG 🐕

It’s true! Pigs have the intelligence of a human toddler and are ranked as the fifth most intelligent animal in the world! In fact, pigs are more intelligent and trainable than any breed of dog. They learn their names in just two weeks and come when they’re called. Pigs are even capable of playing video games better than some primates.

Our standard practice is to administer iron on the second day after birth, that's 1ml per piglet depending on the brand. Piglets access Iron through breast feeding but that iron is usually not sufficient for the entire pre weaning cycle. Iron helps to produce haemoglobin and myoglobin - proteins that enable red blood cells to carry oxygen around the body. Adequate levels of iron are also required to produce essential proteins and enzymes. This helps quick acclimatisation to the new external environment and prevents high mortality caused by anaemia if not resolved.

Welcoming our latest batch of 11 born a week ago😊. Happy New week!
