I Added This to Their Water to Reduce Chicken Dropping Smell 👇

Lemon water can help reduce unpleasant smells from chicken droppings.

How I use it 👇

Per 1 liter of clean water, I add 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice.
I mix it well and provide it as their drinking water.
I use it 3 times a week — Monday, Thursday, and Saturday.
I don’t increase the amount because too much lemon can irritate their digestive system.

Why Broilers Fail to Reach Market Weight in 6 Weeks 👇

Broilers are bred to grow fast, but many farmers struggle to get them to good market weight by 6 weeks. Here are the major reasons:

1. Poor-Quality Day-Old Chicks (DOCs)

Weak or poor-quality chicks can start behind from the first day and may struggle to reach their full growth potential.
👉 No matter how well you manage them later, poor-quality chicks can still perform poorly. Be careful where you buy your chicks.
👉 Always source your chicks from a reputable hatchery.

2. Not Enough Protein or Energy in the Feed

Broilers need properly formulated starter and finisher feed.
👉 If the feed is low in protein, energy or poorly mixed, the birds may grow slowly.

3. Heat Stress and Poor Ventilation

When the weather is very hot or the poultry house has poor airflow:

👉 Birds eat less
👉 Birds drink more water
👉 Birds may become stressed
👉 Weight gain can slow down

Poor ventilation also allows heat, moisture, dust, and harmful gases to build up inside the house.
👉 Provide good ventilation and enough airflow, especially during hot weather.

4. Overcrowding

Too many birds in a small space can reduce access to feed and water, increase heat, and increase competition.
👉 Give the birds enough space for comfortable feeding, drinking and movement.

5. Disease or Worms

Coccidiosis, respiratory infections, diarrhea, and internal parasites can reduce feed intake and weight gain.
👉 Even mild illness can slow growth.
👉 Always watch your birds closely and keep up with your weekly prevention routine when appropriate. Prevention is better than cure.

6. Wet or Dirty Litter

Wet and dirty litter creates an unhealthy environment and can increase stress and disease problems.
👉 Keep the litter dry and clean.

7. Poor Water Quality or Very Warm Water

Dirty water can spread disease, while very warm water can reduce water intake.
👉 Provide clean, fresh drinking water and change it regularly, especially during hot weather.

8. Poor Brooding During the First 14 Days

The first two weeks are very important for establishing good growth.
👉 Chicks need proper warmth, clean water, easy access to feed, and good brooding management.

9. Poor Lighting Management

Broilers need enough light to find feed and water and maintain regular feeding activity.
👉 Make sure the birds can easily see and access their feed and water, especially during the first 14 days.

10. Genetics

Genetics affect how quickly birds grow and the weight they can reach.
👉 Commercial broiler strains such as Cobb, Ross and Arbor Acres are selected for fast growth, while local chickens generally grow more slowly.

If you want good market weight, don't focus on feed alone. Chick quality, feeding, water, temperature, space, health, litter, brooding, lighting, and genetics all matter.

LEARN TO SEE YOURSELF RICH AS A FARMER - POOR MIND MAKES RICH LAND POOR

Many farmers work rich land but carry poor mind.

You say "I am just a small farmer." You say "Farming is for those who failed school." You dress like beggar when you go market.

If you see yourself poor, buyer sees you poor and pays you poor.

POINT 1: YOU APOLOGIZE FOR BEING FARMER - SO BUYER APOLOGIZES WITH LOW PRICE

You go market and say "Sorry, I have only few tomatoes, sorry they are small."

You bend head, you fear price, buyer senses fear and drops price.

Businessman never apologizes for his business, he presents it.

Solution:
- Change language: Stop saying "Just small farmer." Say "I am a farmer, I grow tomato, I supply 50 crates weekly." Same farm, bigger voice.
- Dress like businessman when you sell: Clean clothes, clean shoes, clean product. Buyer respects clean farmer and pays more.
- Know you feed nation: Teacher teaches, nurse treats, farmer feeds both. Without you both starve. Walk with that pride.

POINT 2: YOU SEE RICH AS ONLY OFFICE WORK - SO YOU SEND FARM MONEY TO BUILD OFFICE LIFE

Farm gives profit, you use profit to buy suit, to send child to course for office job, you say "I don't want my child to suffer like me farming."

You insult your own work, you make farming punishment.

Rich farmer sees farm as office, farm as company.

Solution:
- Call your farm company name: Not "My small garden," call "Kitwe Fresh Farm" even if half acre. Name makes mind big.
- Invest farm profit back to farm first like businessman invests in shop: Businessman who gets profit doesn't build house first, he adds more stock. Do same.
- Teach children farm is business not punishment: Show them book, show profit, show plan. Child who sees profit will love farm, child who sees sweat only will run.

POINT 3: YOU WAIT TO BE RICH TOMORROW SO YOU LIVE POOR TODAY - RICH MIND MANAGES TODAY

You say "When I harvest big I will be rich." So today you eat poor, you keep poor house, you don't count.

Rich mind manages small today to grow big tomorrow.

Poor mind waits big tomorrow and wastes small today.

Solution:
- Treat 10 chickens like 1,000: Clean house, count feed, count eggs, clean eggs. Discipline of 10 is training for 1,000. If you are dirty with 10, you will be dirty with 1,000 and lose bigger.
- Keep small money with respect: 100 kwacha from eggs, write, save 20, reinvest 80. Respect for small money invites big money.
- Act rich in discipline not in spending: Rich is not buying b**r, rich is waking early, keeping time, keeping promise to buyer. Buyer trusts disciplined farmer with big order.

POINT 4: YOU COMPARE YOUR START TO ANOTHER'S MIDDLE - COMPARISON MAKES YOU FEEL POOR

You see farmer with 500 goats after 10 years, you have 10 goats year 1, you say "I will never be rich."

You compare your chapter 1 to his chapter 10, you feel poor and quit.

Solution:
- Compare you today vs you last season: Last season 5 goats, now 10, you doubled. That is rich growth.
- Learn from big farmer not envy: Ask him "How many goats did you have year 1? How many died?" You will find he started like you.
- Set 3-year picture: Write where you want to be in 3 years, animals, bags, house. Work towards picture daily, not towards neighbor.

Learn to see yourself rich as farmer:

- You apologize for being farmer so buyer apologizes with low price, change language stop saying just small farmer
- You see rich as only office work so you send farm money to build office life, call your farm company name

This topic people fear to talk. They say "Secret account is unfaithfulness." But reality: 90% of farmers who fail completely fail because every coin they have is known and begged. You harvest, everyone knows you have money: wife, children, parents, brothers, church, friends. Before you buy fertilizer, money finished with requests. Secret account is not cheating, secret account is farm survival account, your farm oxygen.

POINT 1: WHEN EVERYONE KNOWS YOU HAVE MONEY, EVERYONE HAS EMERGENCY SAME WEEK

You sell tomatoes 8000, you tell wife, wife tells children, children tell friends, friends tell relatives. Same week: Mother sick need 1000, brother school fees 800, church building 500, wife's hair 300, friend loan 600. You give because you can't say no when they know you have.

End week: 8000 becomes 2000, you can't buy inputs for next season.

Reality: People don't plan emergencies, they wait for you to harvest then they have emergency.

If no one knows exact amount, you can say "Sales were low, I only got 3000" and you keep 5000 safe.

Secret account is not lying, it's protecting seed money from being eaten.

Solution:

- Have 2 Mobile Money accounts or 1 bank account hidden: One main account everyone knows for family use, one secret account for farm capital only. Even wife knows you have farm account but doesn't know balance.
- Rule: 30-40% of every sale goes straight to secret account before you reach home. Transfer at market immediately after selling, not when you reach home and people see cash.
- Name it in phone as something else: "Mama Feed" or "Seed Supplier" so if someone checks phone they don't know it's savings.
- This account never for b**r, clothes, or showing off. Only for: Next season inputs, emergency farm need, and opportunity (when cheap land or cheap chicks appear, you can act fast).

POINT 2: YOUR SPOUSE LOVES YOU BUT CAN KILL YOUR FARM WITH LOVE - "LET'S USE IT FOR SOMETHING IMPORTANT"

Wife/husband says "We have 6000, let's use 4000 to buy sofa, we need sofa for visitors." Or "Let's use for child's birthday party, child needs to be happy." Or "Let's lend to my brother, he will pay."

It's love, but it's farm capital. If you use farm capital for house things, farm collapses, then no money for both.

Many marriages fight because farmer says no to sofa, wife says "You love farm more than family." Fight starts.

Secret account solves fight: You say "Family money we have 2000 for sofa small small" but farm money 4000 is hidden and safe for inputs. You protect marriage and farm.

Reality: Love without money boundaries kills farm and later kills love when farm fails.

Solution:

- Agree with spouse on family budget: "From every sales, 40% farm reinvest, 30% family, 20% savings, 10% emergency." Write agreement.
- Secret account holds the 40% reinvest + 20% savings. Spouse knows percentage exists but doesn't control daily spending of it.
- For big family decisions, use family budget only, not farm budget. When family budget finishes, wait next harvest, don't touch farm account.
- Teach spouse farming business: Show them "If we eat 4000 now, next season we will make zero, if we reinvest 4000, next season we make 12000 and buy better sofa." When spouse understands business, they support secret account.

Secret account is not against marriage, it's for marriage survival.

POINT 3: SECRET ACCOUNT SAVES YOU WHEN YOU ARE SICK, WHEN MARKET FAILS, WHEN YOU ARE CHEATED

Farmer has no payslip, no loan easily. When you sick 2 weeks, no one gives you money if they know you have zero. But if you have secret account with 5000-10000 always there, you survive 2 months without begging.

When briefcase buyer cheats you and doesn't pay 3000, if you have no secret account you borrow and enter debt. If you have secret account, you use it to plant next crop and recover.

When drought hits and everyone begging, you have hidden reserve to buy water or feed.

Reality: Farming is emergency business. Emergency needs emergency money that no one knows, otherwise emergency of others eats your emergency.

Solution:

- Target for secret account: Always keep enough to plant next season even if this season zero. Example: If your 1 lima needs 4000 inputs, secret account must never go below 4000. That's your farm blood level.
- Build slowly: Every sale, even 50, 100 goes there. In 1 year you have 4000 without pain.
- Don't tell even best friend: Friend today, enemy tomorrow when you refuse loan. Only you and maybe bank know.
- Use lock: Village savings lock, fixed Mobile Money, bank that doesn't allow easy withdraw. Make it hard to withdraw for useless things.

POINT 4: SECRET ACCOUNT GIVES YOU POWER TO SAY NO AND POWER TO SAY YES TO OPPORTUNITY

When you have zero secret, you must say yes to low price buyer because you desperate for money today. Buyer knows you desperate, gives low price.

When you have secret account with 5000, you can say "No, I won't sell at 50, I can wait 3 days" because you have money to eat. You get better price 80. Secret account gives you bargaining power.

Also opportunity: Someone selling 1 hectare cheap because need hospital money, price 15000 but you have 8000 in secret, you can negotiate and buy, others have zero.

Or chicks price drops, feed cheap, you can buy fast because you have reserve.

Reality: Money in secret account is not dead money, it's opportunity money and power money.

Solution:

- Never show desperation at market: Even if you broke, act like you have secret reserve, buyer will fear you won't sell cheap.
- Use secret account to buy when price low: Fertilizer cheap off-season, buy and keep. Seeds on promotion, buy.
- When secret account grows to double your farm need, use extra to buy asset: Goat, small plot, borehole. Asset also secret strength.

Have one account for village to see, have one account for farm to survive.
