October 16, 2026 - The Zambia Police Service wishes to inform the public that former Petauke Member of Parliament, Emmanuel Jay Banda, has been apprehended.

He is currently in the country awaiting formal arrest and charging.

The Zambia Police Service will provide further details on the matter in due course.

ANOTHER CASE FOR GARY NKOMBO SUPPORTERS

MAGISTRATE COURT SETS RULING DATE IN NKOMBO SUPPORTERS CASE

The Magistrate Court in Mazabuka has set 26th October, 2026 as the date for ruling on whether there is a prima facie case or no case to answer, in a matter in which four supporters of Gary Nkombo are jointly charged with malicious damage to property.

Byta FM Court Journalist reports that when the matter came up for continued trial before Resident Magistrate Likando Matakala, three witnesses, including a Medical Doctor and a Police Officer, testified.

The defendants in the case are Felix Chikuta, 25, of Kaleya Station, Brighton Hakalembe, 35, also of Kaleya Station, Hammes Kanondo, 40, of Highlanders, and Panji Muleya, 26.

The four are jointly charged with malicious damage to property contrary to Section 335(1)(a) of the Penal Code, Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.

It is alleged that on 31st July, 2026, the defendants willfully and unlawfully destroyed a security light, three glass panes and a Nissan Tiida vehicle, altogether valued at K13,725, property of Reverend Machenje of Kaleya Station.

Meanwhile, in count two, Kanondo is charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm contrary to Section 248 of the Penal Code, Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.

It is alleged that on 31st July, 2026, Kanondo assaulted Catherine Nchimunya, thereby occasioning her actual bodily harm.
