Meet our Team, Part 1 ðŠŧ
Introducing our dynamic, mother-daughter duo who run Emerald Seedlings, Gill and Sally ð
Gill and her husband, Tony, first bought the property back in 1996, and the plant nursery was taken over from Kerry Wallace in 2003.
At Emerald Seedlings, Gill runs the retail nursery and the growing of the flower seedlings. Sally runs the other greenhouses for landscaping and planting projects, as well as the accounts. If you didn't know, Sally also runs a Garden Maintenance and Landscaping business, Emerald Garden Services ðž
What is it like running a family business together? ðš
Gill - "I love it, we support each other. But I'm sure Sally gets very frustrated when I ask her questions and she has her head deep into her book work!"
Sally - "I love working with my Mum everyday, and my brother next door (Jonty at Rent-a-container). It's been great to bounce off ideas, and we all have our strengths and each other's back."
When did you both get into gardening? ðŠī
Gill - "I've always loved gardening, my Mum did too. But I definitely learnt so much more when we started running the nursery."
Sally - "2010 when I bought my house and couldn't wait to change the garden."
What is your favourite plant? ðļ
Gill - "Definitely the rose - Just Joey."
Sally - "Vachellia Abyssinica (Acacia Abyssinica)."
If you could have one plant flowering in your garden all year long, what would it be? âïļ
Gill - "Again, it would be roses."
Sally - "Antirrhinum/ Snap Dragons. I love the array of colour and they're great for cut flowers."
A big thank you to you both for all you do to keep our special nursery running smoothly through the seasons ð
