INOSITOL: SMALL SCOOP, BIG HORMONAL SUPPORT

Inositol is a naturally occurring compound, sometimes called vitamin B8, that helps cells respond properly to important signals from insulin, reproductive hormones and brain chemicals such as serotonin.

It is particularly popular for women with PCOS because it may help:

• Improve insulin sensitivity
• Support more regular menstrual cycles
• Encourage healthy ovulation
• Reduce excess androgen activity
• Support egg quality and fertility
• Promote a calmer mood
• Support healthy blood-sugar control

Our powder contains pure myo-inositol, the form naturally found in the greatest concentration throughout the body. It dissolves easily in water and has a mild, slightly sweet taste.

Suggested use: Take 2–4g daily, divided into one or two servings. For PCOS and fertility support, allow at least three months of consistent use.

CLEAN FUEL. CLEAN PROTEIN.

Two simple additions for energy, strength and recovery.

MojoMe Pure MCT Powder contains medium-chain triglycerides, fats that are metabolised differently from most dietary fats. They are absorbed rapidly and transported to the liver, where they can be used for energy or converted into ketones. Research shows that MCTs can produce a mild rise in ketones, providing an additional fuel source for the brain and body, particularly alongside a low-carbohydrate diet.

Add it to coffee, smoothies or yoghurt for a creamy, unflavoured energy boost.

MojoMe Pure Whey Protein Isolate provides all nine essential amino acids and is naturally rich in leucine. Leucine helps activate the mTOR pathway, one of the body’s main signals for muscle protein synthesis. Studies show that whey protein, particularly when combined with resistance exercise, supports muscle maintenance, growth and post-training recovery.

Whey isolate is also highly concentrated, rapidly digested and lower in lactose than standard whey concentrate.

SLIPPERY ELM: SOOTHE YOUR GUT FROM THE INSIDE OUT

Slippery elm bark becomes thick and gel-like when mixed with water. This is due to its naturally high mucilage content, a type of soluble fibre that coats and soothes irritated mucous membranes.

Think of it as creating a gentle protective layer through the throat, oesophagus, stomach and digestive tract.

Slippery elm is commonly used to support:

• Acid reflux and heartburn
• Gastritis and stomach irritation
• A sore or inflamed digestive tract
• IBS-related discomfort and bloating
• Constipation and difficult bowel movements
• Throat irritation and dry coughs

WHAT DOES THE RESEARCH SAY?

Research describes slippery elm as a demulcent, meaning it forms a soothing gel-like barrier over sensitive tissue.

A small clinical study using a herbal formula containing slippery elm found improvements in bowel frequency, stool consistency, straining, abdominal pain and bloating in people with constipation-predominant IBS.

Another 16-week study using a digestive formula containing slippery elm reported improvements in reflux, indigestion, abdominal discomfort and bowel symptoms.

These studies used slippery elm as part of a combination formula, so more research is needed on slippery elm by itself. However, its mucilage-forming and soothing properties are well established and explain its long history of use for digestive and throat irritation.

HOW TO USE THE POWDER

Mix one serving into warm water and stir well. Allow it to thicken slightly before drinking.

It can also be added to smoothies, yoghurt or porridge. Drink adequate water when using it.

Because the mucilage may slow the absorption of medication or supplements, take slippery elm at least two hours away from them.

SCELETIUM: CALM THE MIND. LIFT THE MOOD.

Long before Sceletium appeared in capsules, sprays and drinks, this remarkable South African succulent was known as Kanna.

For centuries, the San and Khoekhoe people fermented and chewed the plant as “kougoed,” meaning “something to chew.” It was traditionally used during long journeys and hunting expeditions to help manage thirst, hunger and fatigue, while encouraging calmness, endurance, social connection and a brighter mood. It was also prepared as a tea, s***f or smoking herb.

WHAT DOES THE RESEARCH SHOW?

Sceletium contains naturally occurring mesembrine-type alkaloids. Laboratory research suggests that these compounds influence serotonin signalling and inhibit an enzyme called phosphodiesterase-4, or PDE4. Both pathways are involved in mood, stress responses, mental flexibility and emotional regulation.

In a placebo-controlled brain-imaging study, a standardised Sceletium extract reduced the brain’s threat response in the amygdala, the area involved in processing fear and anxiety.

Another controlled human study found that a single dose reduced aspects of laboratory-induced stress and anxiety in healthy adults.

Research has also reported possible benefits for cognitive flexibility, executive function and the ability to cope with mentally demanding situations. However, the human studies are still relatively small, and results have not been identical in every trial.

Sceletium is not generally used to sedate or “switch off” someone. People often describe it as taking the emotional edge off, helping them feel calmer, more sociable and better able to cope, without feeling heavily drowsy.

CEYLON CINNAMON: NOT THE SAME AS ORDINARY CASSIA CINNAMON

Cinnamon has attracted a lot of research for its potential role in blood sugar and metabolic health.

A recent meta-analysis of 24 randomised controlled trials found that cinnamon supplementation was associated with improvements in fasting blood glucose, insulin resistance and HbA1c. Another analysis of 28 trials reported an average reduction in fasting glucose of approximately 15 mg/dL, although results varied considerably between studies.

Researchers believe cinnamon may influence insulin signalling, glucose uptake and the enzymes involved in carbohydrate digestion. This may help reduce the speed at which glucose enters the bloodstream after a meal.

WHY CEYLON CINNAMON?

Most ordinary supermarket cinnamon is Cassia cinnamon. Cassia naturally contains much higher levels of coumarin, a compound that may become problematic when consumed regularly in larger amounts.

Ceylon cinnamon, also called “true cinnamon,” contains only trace amounts of coumarin. One laboratory study found average coumarin levels of 2,650–7,017 mg/kg in Cassia samples, while the genuine Sri Lankan Ceylon cinnamon sample was coumarin-free.

For regular use, especially when someone is taking cinnamon specifically for metabolic support, Ceylon is the form we prefer.

Agnus Castus, also known as Vitex or chasteberry, is one of the better-studied herbs for women dealing with cyclical hormonal symptoms.

Research has found benefits for PMS symptoms including irritability, mood changes, bloating, headaches and breast tenderness. A meta-analysis of placebo-controlled trials found women taking Vitex were around 2.6 times more likely to experience remission of PMS symptoms than those taking placebo.

One of the interesting ways Agnus Castus works is through its effects on dopamine and prolactin. By helping regulate prolactin, it may support healthy menstrual cycles, progesterone production during the luteal phase and cyclical breast tenderness.

A separate review of 25 studies also found Vitex helpful for cyclical breast pain and elevated prolactin.

So this isn't simply a generic "hormone balance" herb. It has a particular affinity for PMS, cyclical breast tenderness, mood changes and menstrual symptoms, especially where prolactin may be playing a role.

Heartburn doesn’t always mean you have too much stomach acid.

In some people, the problem may actually be inadequate stomach acidity and poor digestion. Stomach acid has a job. It helps break down protein, activates pepsin, supports the absorption of nutrients such as B12, iron and zinc, and forms part of the stomach’s natural defence against unwanted microbes.

This is why simply suppressing stomach acid doesn’t necessarily address what is driving the symptoms.

Betaine HCl has been used to increase gastric acidity, while digestive enzymes can support the breakdown of food. Traditionally fermented vinegars also support digestion and are an easy addition before meals.

The goal should be to understand what is causing the reflux in the first place. Poor digestion, large meals, eating late, certain foods, impaired stomach emptying and low stomach acid can all play a part.

At Thrive we have several options for supporting digestion, including:

Digestive Enzymes
Betaine HCl with Pepsin
Acidex
Thrive Botanical Vinegars

If you’ve been relying on antacids for months or years and the problem keeps returning, it may be worth looking at your digestion from a different angle.

17/08/2026

L-Carnosine is a naturally occurring dipeptide made from beta-alanine and histidine, found in particularly high concentrations in muscle, brain and heart tissue.

It’s attracting a lot of interest in healthy-ageing research because it works in several interesting ways.

Research has looked at its ability to reduce glycation and the formation of AGEs, compounds that accumulate as we age and can damage proteins and tissues.

It also has antioxidant properties and may help protect cells from oxidative stress.

Muscle naturally contains high levels of carnosine, where it helps regulate pH during physical activity. This is one reason carnosine and beta-alanine have been so widely studied in exercise and muscle performance.

There is also growing research around carnosine and brain health, particularly its antioxidant, anti-glycation and metal-binding properties.

IMPORTANT: L-Carnosine is not the same as Zinc L-Carnosine.

L-Carnosine is generally used for broader antioxidant, anti-glycation, muscle and healthy-ageing support.

Zinc L-Carnosine combines zinc with carnosine and has been studied specifically for supporting the stomach and gut lining, including gastric mucosal repair.

We’ll be getting Zinc L-Carnosine soon.

FEMALE VITALITY ORGANS | $30 | 160 CAPSULES

There’s a reason organ meats were traditionally some of the most valued parts of the animal. They’re exceptionally nutrient dense, providing nutrients in forms the body can readily use.

Female Vitality Organs combines grass-fed ovaries, uterus, liver, heart and kidney in one whole-food supplement.

Why organ nutrition?

Liver is one of nature’s richest sources of vitamin B12 and preformed vitamin A (retinol), as well as iron, folate and copper. These nutrients are important for energy production, red blood cell formation, immune function, skin and normal hormone metabolism.

Heart is naturally rich in CoQ10, along with B vitamins and minerals involved in cellular and mitochondrial energy production.

Kidney provides selenium, B12, iron and other micronutrients, supporting antioxidant defences, thyroid function and normal energy metabolism.

O***y and uterus provide the nutrients and proteins naturally found in female reproductive tissues. They have a long history of use in traditional glandular nutrition, based on the principle of consuming nutrient-rich animal tissues as part of a whole-food diet.

Together, the five organs provide a broad spectrum of naturally occurring nutrients, including:

• Vitamin B12
• Heme iron
• Retinol, the active form of vitamin A
• CoQ10
• Zinc
• Selenium
• B vitamins
• Essential amino acids
• Naturally occurring omega-3 fats

This makes it a great whole-food option for women wanting additional nutritional support for energy, vitality, menstrual health, hormone function, healthy hair and skin, and general wellbeing.

Made from 100% South African grass-fed and grass-finished beef. Hormone-free, antibiotic-free and pesticide-free, with no fillers or flow agents.

How to take: Start with 1–2 capsules daily and gradually increase to 5 capsules daily, preferably with your first meal.
