As the rainy season kisses us goodbye and winter approaches, it is that time of the year again at Chivara Farm – The Home of Superior Genetics – when we cut, rake and bale hay for our on-farm feed production during the seven-month dry season from May to November.

Over the past two weeks, our team has been hard at work cutting and carrying hay to ensure that our breeding stock has reliable, high-quality feed reserves as we prepare for the dry months ahead.

We carefully time our processes to harvest and conserve pasture at its optimal nutritional value in order to:

🌱 Protect rangeland health through controlled utilisation
🌱 Reduce pressure on natural grazing during dry periods
🌱 Maintain good body condition for breeding animals
🌱 Support fertility, growth, and genetic performance
🌱 Build climate resilience into our livestock production systems

Feed security is genetic security. Strong genetics require consistent nutrition. After all, livestock production is essentially the process of converting grass into ca$h via animals.
