NEW STRAWBERRY JOURNEY BEGINS WOODVILLE, BULAWAYO

A few weeks ago, this piece of land in Woodville, Bulawayo was just open soil. Today, it is the beginning of a new strawberry farming project.

This farmer recently purchased strawberry plants from Eden Strawberry Farm and decided to put his land and water to good use. The beds are prepared, the drip irrigation is installed, and the young strawberry plants are now growing. 🍓

Every farm starts like this, with a simple decision to plant something and see it grow.

Sometimes the opportunity is already in our hands:
If you have land and water, you already have the foundation for a farming project. Why let it go to waste?

Across Zimbabwe we are seeing more farmers starting small strawberry projects that grow into something meaningful over time.

At Eden Strawberry Farm, we are proud to support farmers who take that first step.

"Strawberry plants start producing fruit three months after planting when well cared for. We are excited to see how this project develops in Woodville ”

🍓 Healthy strawberry plants are available for farmers who want to start their own project.

📩 Inbox us if you would like to start strawberry farming.

Question:
If you had land and water, would you start a strawberry project?

Busy bees, busy berries. 🐝🍓Bees play an essential role on our farm, pollinating each delicate strawberry flower to help turn blooms into fruit. Without them, there would be no strawberries — just flowers and wishes. Nature’s teamwork at its finest.

🔥 YOU DON’T NEED A LOT OF LAND TO START STRAWBERRY FARMING 🔥

This is one of our young farmers in Harare doing backyard strawberry farming and producing beautiful strawberries from a small space at home, he gave us permission to share some of his work.
This proves something important you don’t need a big farm to start making money from agriculture. Even a backyard can become a profitable strawberry project.

At Eden Strawberry Farm, we are proud to support young farmers across Zimbabwe who are starting small and growing big.

If you are in Harare, we will share his contacts soon so you can support him and enjoy fresh, sweet strawberries straight from the garden..

Trust us… they taste amazing! 😋

💡 Thinking of starting your own strawberry project?

We currently have healthy strawberry plants available for farmers who want to start or expand their projects.

⚠️ Limited plants available this week.

📩 Comment “STRAWBERRY” or send us an inbox if you want to start strawberry farming.

Strawberry Fruit Quality Production

Over time very many farmers have engaged in planting strawberries. Many have entered the farming venture and also many have left while others are still at it years to come. Unfortunately many farmers enter the strawberry farming venture blindly and expect to get very good results at the end of the day but it is never the case. We always advice farmers to get the right information before hand from farmers who have done it successfully and for a long period of time, start small and grow from there. Another thing is every farmer must know the market is not in the seedlings but rather in the fruits.
Getting good quality fruits is also not a walk in the park. It involves a number of things and to get a return customer one has to have very good quality strawberries.

1: Harvesting time
Whenever you harvest your strawberries always harvest them when they are fully red from top to bottom.STRAWBERRIES DO NOT RIPEN WHEN THEY HAVE BEEN HARVESTED WHEN THEY ARE HALF RIPE. YES THEY WILL CHANGE COLOR BUT THEY ARE STILL BITTER FRUITS. Many will say the customer is always right and that is how they need them. We leave this here for you as a farmer to decide what is what.

2: Nutrition
Feed your strawberries what it needs and when it needs. It is not just a matter of feeding NPK to the plant but also giving the micro elements that are needed? Do you know which are the micro elements?

3: Thinning and removing flowers
It is very important to thin your plants so that there is not competition of flower production. Do not feel bad cutting out flowers or fruits that do not belong if you want large strawberries. If your market is asking for small strawberries there is no need to cutting the flowers as soon as they appear.
We cut off the flowers so that the energy the plant would have used to produce the fruit is retained for the plant growth. We always recommend 120 days of plant grooming.

10 Lesson to upcoming farmers.

1. Farming is not an option for lazy men, its a task for the strongest heated.

2) To be a successful farmer you should learn the market trend, know what sells best and where.

3) Farming needs Capital. Never start a project which you're not sure of its completion plan.

4) seasons are never the same, sometimes prices will heart break while in other season you will see your Mercedes Benz packed in your farm

5) Learn to be unique, never be a product of copy and paste.

6) consistency is the seal, let people know you at least for one product which never lack in your farm.

7) When youre aspiring to inspire make sure you invest in yourself, learn the art; visit other farmers and learn from them. Through this you will one day be the master.

8) Always remember customers will always but the cheapest in the market, but good quality products will set their own prices.

9) never loose focus even if you don't see yourself when you had anticipated.

10) Farming is never a get rich quick scheme, its a process which needs patience, determination and dedication.

This important, please take note,.
fungus causes the most common strawberry disease, Verticillium
wilt (or Verticillium rot), which will end fruit production by killing
growing strawberries
Other crops: Strawberries should not be planted in soils where
strawberries, raspberries, vine crops, potatoes, tomatoes,
peppers, eggplants, beans, carrots, okra have been grown in
any of the previous four years, unless the soil has been fumigated.
Such sites are likely to contain disease and insect pests that may
attack plants. These crops also carry the root rot fungus
Verticillium, which also attacks strawberries.
