When you hit one of your favourite-ever Westys with our signature DDH treatment, you’re left with a pretty spectacular beer.

We can’t express how much we love this style, and this one improves on what was already close to perfect.

DDH Sticky Icky’s hop bill of Riwaka Cryo, Nelson Sauvin, Nectaron, and Chinook shines through a lean and clean malt bill.

Nuggets is back and dialled all the way up to 10 🍗

Our favourite from the RB8 birthday release, now in the form of a DDH DIPA. 10 Piece has got that same soft breakfast smoothie character, but with a hop saturation on another level entirely.

The body is criminally soft and frankly ludicrous for this many hops. It’s not bad as dipping sauce either.

There’s no wrong way to drink a beer, but here’s what we look for in a good Westie.

With 19 other breweries bringing their best West Coast IPA to the taproom this Saturday, we thought we’d give you a little cheat sheet to help you grade the beers on the day.

Our personal favourite way to play is blind. You’ll be given a booklet on entry, and you can drink the board 1–19 or pick them purely off vibes (we randomise the order, FYI).

Give each brew a score on appearance, aroma, and taste, plus a total score, before scratching off the label to find out who brewed that drop. Repeat the process until you’ve found your winner.

With your booklet comes two voting tokens: one full vote and one half vote. Use these to cast your vote for who walks away with the People’s Champion Belt.

So far, only and Young Giants Brewing Co. have got their hands on one of these bad boys.

🍗 10 Piece - 8.4% DDH DIPA 🍗

10 Piece is the souped up DDH Double version of one of our favourites from this year’s Birthday release, Nuggets. Everything we loved about the first addition, dialled up to 10. We have absolutely overloaded this juice bomb with copious amounts of Nectaron, Motueka, fresh Cold Pressed Waiti Hop Juice, and Nectaron Cryo to finish. Pour this monster into a glass and you’ll see an absolutely glowing yellow haze with the fluffiest of fluffy white domes on top. From there you’ll be whacked immediately with the fresh peach and mango aromas coming out of the glass. Pure tropical fresh intensity that’s absolutely synonymous with those Kiwi hops we absolutely love around here. The soft breakfast smoothie hit of Nuggets carries over here, but that depth of hop saturation is on another level in this one. Passionfruit Creme, Mango Weiss Bars, Tropical Peach, sweet Apricot and Orange to round it out. The body is silky smooth, with a criminally soft, ultra-juicy mouthfeel that is frankly ludicrous for this much hops. Better than any 10 piece we’ve ever had.

đŸ§Ș DDH Sticky Icky - 7.0% DDH West Coast IPA đŸ§Ș

We’ve taken one of our favourite ever West Coast IPA’s and hit it with our signature DDH treatment to bring you DDH Sticky Icky.
Featuring a egregiously sticky combo of Riwaka Cryo, Nelson Sauvin, Nectaron and Chinook, we’ve kept the malt bill super new school to keep it light, lean and clean and let the dank drippy notes take over. That’s showing in the glass as this one’s pouring a gorgeous, crystal clear gold with a fluffy white dome. On the nose we’re copping wafts of sticky orange, dank stonefruit and hints of classic piney goodness. Rip a puff sip and you’ll be hit with some of the drippiest citrus, pineapple, resin and pine of all time. The body and bitterness come through perfectly

This Saturday, you are one. The QLD IPA Cup is a genuine blind tasting. We throw logos and loyalties away, so you can simply focus on what’s in the glass.

On the day, you’ll be given a tasting booklet with all 20 breweries hidden behind scratch labels.

From there, you can taste blind by scoring the beer first and scratching after. Find out who brewed it once you’ve given your scores.

Or you can scratch first, know whose beer you’re drinking and go hunting for the breweries you love.

No matter who you play, your judgment is crucial to help crown the People’s Champion for 2026.

We love getting the beer community together to appreciate the craft and celebrate some seriously good breweries from the sunshine state.
