The

farm rests again the backdrop of the stunning Dial Range just south of Penguin. Our story started in 2009 when we set out to promote ethical farming and become Tasmania's first free range commercial pig farm. We supported rare breeds selling free range pork products into some of Australia's finest restaurants. The farm and business has now developed and evolved into something much larger than we ever anticipated. In addition to an on-farm butchery it has an on-farm restaurant and a new barn for functions and events. This combined with beautiful gardens and a 1000 tree cider orchard has made it become both a beautiful event space and place to visit. The farm has had a focus on not only producing ethical produce but engaging the community in the story behind the produce. This is why the farm regularly has open days and farm tours. If you haven't visited us at the farm you have probably heard us telling our story at one of the many food festivals and farmers markets held around Tasmania.

How cute are our lambs?

Lambing season is in full swing.

The mums recognise their baby by scent.

We have a rare breed of sheep called Shropshire that we reintroduced to Tasmania.

Andrea from Burnie Arts and Function centre with some wallaby sausages we made for a NAIDOC breakfast tomorrow.

We sourced some rhagodia berry magic sauce from Rees Rees Campbell (Feisty Tasmanian) along with some kunzea and combined it with mountain pepper, salt and some free range pork fat. The wallaby came from Lenah game meats.

It's always fun making new recipes and they taste delicious, likely in July.

It has inspired us to do a wild foods dinner at the farm.

One of the beautiful aspects of living next to the Dial Range is post rain the mountains produce low clouds that hover.

At times it feels like a blanket is being rolled over the range.

The highland cows are also enjoying lush autumn grass.

We take the colours in our landscape in north west Tasmania for granted. The landscape is rarely dull and brown. The hinterland is undervalued for it's beauty.

We're open for dinner tonight and lunch tomorrow. Come and enjoy a hearty meal and mulled cider in front of the fire.

Did you know that a Gnomon is the name of the object that casts a shadow on a sundial and the Dial Range has been named after the gnomon?

We have oriented our dome accomodation around a sundial. The orchard dome faces the east catching the morning sun, then as the sun travels across the sky in the day it warms up the large windows in each dome as it moves. The sunset dome captures the last of the suns energy and light. The sunset and valley dome are the picks of the domes to capture the warmth of the afternoon sun in winter.

Sunflowers follow a similar path in a phenomenon known as heliotropism. They elongate one side of their stem to follow the sun during the day and then the other side of the stem elongates at night so they are ready to face the morning sun in the east.

Last minute Agfest preparation. The smoke oven broke down so we had to resort to preparing some of our produce over coals on the asado grill, a lot of work but very delicious.

You will find us in the Dairy Shed next door to the likes of Ashgrove and Anvers.

We're off to Agfest this week.

Don't stress if you can't find us on the map we are in the Dairy Shed. It's been over a decade since we've been with our friends in the Dairy Industry and we are looking forward to it.

We have been busy prepping all our regular festival favourites. We have an opening if anyone wants to join our team particularly on the Saturday as some of our team have to also prepare for Mother's Day in the barn and Wally has gone missing. Let us know if you would like some tickets and join our team for a few hours work. It is a lot of fun!

We also have a few table left for Mother's Day.

The forecast for Thursday to Sunday is looking great.

Spoil your mum this Mother's Day.

We're opening for lunch in the comfort of the barn, the fire will be roaring.

It's not too late to book a table. We have two sittings 11:45 and 1:30.

The cost is $55 adults for two courses and $30 children.

Hopefully the last of our cottage flowers will hang on one more week.

The power of beautiful voices in the barn. The combined choirs of Vox Harmony and Right on Cue.

A nice community gathering to start the cooler months.

The Shop lifter quartet were also amazing.

We need to host more events like this through winter, the barn is such a warm and beautiful space.
