A little message from us ❤️

With interest rates going up, the cost of living continuing to rise and everyone feeling the pinch, we know things are tough out there. We’re feeling it too. Honestly, hospitality has never been harder.

I wanted to share something that’s happened this week.
Across our stores, we’ve received 3 counterfeit $50 notes. We had absolutely no idea until we went to deposit the cash at the bank, where they were picked up as fake.

That’s $150 straight out of our pocket.

I know people are struggling. I really, really do. But please, don’t try to cheat small businesses, it’s really not fair.

If you can’t afford to eat somewhere, maybe it’s not the right time to eat there. And if things have gotten to the point where you feel you need to use fake money to buy a meal, I genuinely feel for you. But this isn’t the answer.

If you’re genuinely doing it tough and you need a meal, please come and tell us….

I would much rather make you a bagel on us than have you feel like you need to do something like this. And I mean that wholeheartedly. If someone genuinely needs a meal and can’t afford one, it would be my absolute pleasure to help.

We’ve always tried to look after our community, and that isn’t going to change.

But please remember that behind small businesses are real people, real families and teams of people working incredibly hard just to keep the doors open.

We’re not big corporations with endless pockets. We’re small businesses trying to survive in an industry that’s becoming harder and harder to operate in.

A little kindness and honesty go a long way. Please look after the small businesses that look after your community.
And if you need a bagel, just ask. ❤️

Hundreds of kilos. Thousands of units. All made lovingly by the most skilled little team of just five people at our Paddington HQ.

These guys put their heart and soul into everything they make, and you can genuinely feel it.

I once asked what the secret ingredient was, and without missing a beat they replied, “a pinch of my heart.” 🥹💔

And honestly, that sums it up perfectly.

Our house-made lox starts with premium Ōra King salmon, sustainably raised in the pristine waters of New Zealand’s Marlborough Sounds. Prized for its rich, buttery texture and perfect balance of sweet umami, it’s a salmon unlike any other.
Carefully cured and hand-sliced in-house, we’ve spent years refining our lox into a product we’re incredibly proud of.

So we thought it deserved a fresh new fit!

Considered, elevated and worthy of what’s inside. The gold standard of lox, from the inside out. ✨🥯
