Everyone has the same 24 hours.
Honestly, that saying is complete bu****it.
I remember being a fresh, baby faced 19 year old coach telling people.
“Everyone has the same 24 hours in a day. You just have to make it happen.”
I genuinely believed it.
And to an extent, I still believe in taking ownership of your time, making things happen and not constantly making excuses.
But now,
I’m 34. I have a family. Kids. A business. A team. Responsibilities. People relying on me.
And I realise now,
We might all have 24 hours, but we absolutely do NOT all have the same 24 hours.
Different responsibilities.
Different seasons of life.
Different energy.
Different priorities.
Different things happening behind the scenes that nobody else can see.
Some days, getting a workout in, eating well and getting everything done feels easy.
Other days, simply keeping all the plates spinning is the win.
And I think there’s a really important lesson in that.
Give yourself some grace, but don’t give yourself an excuse.
You don’t need to do everything.
You don’t need to be perfect.
You don’t need to train 6 days a week, meal prep every Sunday and wake up at 4:30am to be successful.
And you need to be consistent.
Some weeks might be 3 sessions.
The next might be 2.
The next might be 1.
The next might be 4.
That’s okay.
Because consistency isn’t about being perfect every week.
It’s about continuing to show up over a long period of time.
Maybe today that’s a big session.
Maybe it’s a 20-minute walk.
Maybe it’s making a better food choice.
Maybe it’s getting to bed earlier.
Maybe it’s simply showing up when you really don’t feel like it.
Your circumstances might change.
Your capacity might change.
Your priorities might change.
But don’t stop looking for what you CAN do.
That’s something 19 year old me didn’t understand yet.
And honestly, I think 34 year old me needed to learn it.
