Our assorted weekly boxes are back next Saturday, 15 August — and there’s a familiar favourite making its return after a very long hiatus…

There’ll be 6 different kuih options in our selection this weekend, with a mix of old favourites and weekly treats.

As we have a few catering orders happening over the weekend, we’ll be offering just one pick up location:

📍 Chatswood — 1030am

Preorders are now open via our website kuihbyrumah.com — come get your kuih fix!

A little comeback we’ve been waiting for… MUAH CHEE!

We’re serving it yin-yang style — half tossed in white sesame, half in black sesame. Soft, chewy and coated in that fragrant, nutty sesame goodness.

A little taste of home on 🇸🇬 National Day

Thank you to everyone who came by for your kuihs today! We hope you enjoyed the nostalgic flavours of Singapore and that they brought back a little taste of home. 🥰

Singapore will always be home to half of our little team, so today feels extra special. ❤️

Singapore turns 61 this week, and what better way to celebrate than with some of the flavours we grew up with. 🇸🇬❤️

This Sunday, 9 August, we’re bringing back a menu filled with some of Singapore’s most-loved sweet and savoury kuihs.

Our sweet selection includes Pandan Chiffon Cake and Kuih Lapis, a classic my mum made for almost every birthday party when we were growing up in Singapore. And then there’s Kuih Putugal, our personal favourite. This Eurasian kuih was inspired by one from a little kuih shop in Singapore that we still remember fondly, making it especially nostalgic for us.

On the savoury side, we’re bringing back the hawker centre favourites we all know and love. Chwee Kuih, soft steamed rice cakes topped with sweet and savoury chye poh (preserved radish), and Teochew Png Kuih, which we don’t make very often but always reminds us of home. Our Png Kuih is filled with glutinous rice, pork, mushrooms, dried shrimp and peanuts.

Pre-orders are now live at kuihbyrumah.com.

📍 Pick-up:
• Chatswood — 1015am
• Town Hall — 1130am

Back in the kitchen this week.

After a little break, we’re back making a fresh batch of handmade kuihs for Saturday. There’s something special about getting back into the familiar rhythm of preparing these trays of sweets; keeping the tradition of kuih making alive.

Whether you’re picking up an old favourite or introducing someone to traditional kuihs for the first time, we’d love to have a box waiting for you.

Have you heard of Ang Ee (红丸)?

While many people are familiar with the tortoise-shaped Ang Ku Kuih, fewer know about its pointed counterpart. Traditionally, Ang Ee is gifted to celebrate a baby boy’s full month, while the tortoise-shaped Ang Ku Kuih is prepared for a baby girl’s full month celebration.

Both are made with the same soft, chewy glutinous rice skin and are traditionally filled with either mung bean or peanut. The difference lies not in the ingredients, but in the symbolism and shape passed down through generations as part of this meaningful tradition.

Each piece is individually wrapped and carefully hand-shaped by us. If you’re celebrating a baby’s full month or another special milestone, we’d be honoured to prepare them for your occasion. Feel free to send us a DM or email with your enquiry.

And one more thing… our assorted kuih boxes are back next Saturday, 1 August! Pick-ups are at Chatswood & Burwood and preorders open tomorrow (Monday 27/7) at 6pm on our website.

See you tomorrow at 6pm!

Hi everyone! 👋 Just popping on to say a quick hello, as we know it’s been a little quiet around here lately.

We’ve been making the most of the school holidays, spending some quality time with family both away and here in Sydney. In between, we’ve still been busy with catering orders, but we’ve taken a short break from our weekly kuih boxes.

We’re still away for the rest of this week, but we’ll be back from next week, so stay tuned for updates on when our weekly orders reopen!

In the meantime, if you have a catering enquiry, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. It may have been a little quiet on our socials, but we’re definitely still here. 😉

Hope you’re all keeping warm, and we can’t wait to be back with you all very soon!

Our assorted kuih boxes are back for Sunday, 28 June.

This week, alongside our traditional mung bean Ang Ku Kuih, we’re putting out some with a Gula Melaka coconut filling — made with freshly cooked coconut and palm sugar for a rich, fragrant alternative to the classic. It’s rarely on our menu so if you want to give this a try, this is the time.

Pick-up locations:
• Chatswood — 10:30am
• Town Hall — 11:15am

Pre-orders are now open on our website.

As always, everything is made in small batches and prepared fresh for collection. Thank you for your continued support — we’re looking forward to sharing this week’s selection with you.
