Hey flower friends!!
A little update on our SPRING FLOWER SUBSCRIPTIONS.

For the second year in a row, our spring crop of tulips have completely failed. I got exactly 2 bouquets worth of tulips out of 5000+ that we planted.

This has been such a huge financial hit, 2 years row. I honestly don’t know that we will offer spring subscriptions next year. (We will still have peony subscriptions and summer subscriptions)

We think it’s mainly caused by our local weather. We’re in a multi year drought. We haven’t had snow pack the last couple years. Snow pack helps to keep moisture in the soil as well as early fall storms, which we haven’t had for a few years.

This is our 11th year flower farming. The last couple years we have really been able to see the damaging effects of the drought not only on our crops but our surrounding local environments and eco systems. I’m not gonna lie. It’s kinda scary. We don’t have irrigation here. Everything is watered from our well. Flowers, gardens, horses & cows. So we have to conserve water as much as we can so we don’t run our well dry.

SO. All this to say, our SPRING SUBSCRIPTIONS are delayed. This includes our 12 week subscriptions as well.

Your flowers are coming, we just have to roll into late spring/early summer bouquets instead of early spring bouquets.

Please keep a close eye on your email and our social media. Once the next round of flowers are ready to harvest we will start getting them out ASAP. And we don’t want you to miss a notification an miss picking up your bouquets.

We know this is super frustrating for all of you, it is for us too. And honestly it is a bit embarrassing as well.

To be honest, life has been extra lifey lately on top of trying to plant out and do all the spring chores. I am hitting burn out.

I’m going to take the weekend to rest and hopefully spend some time with my people. I will get to responding to emails and messages early next week. As well as doing my best to reach all our subscribers.

Please be patience with me for just a tad longer. We can’t begin to tell you all how much we appreciate your support!! ❤️❤️❤️

REAL COWBOYS WEAR FLOWERS.

The boys were helping out at a friend’s branding today and during lunch our 10 year old started decorating Nate’s pocket with wildflowers. It quickly turned into an impromptu photo shoot😆

If you haven’t met our daughter at the farm, she has an incredible talent for flower arranging. Especially for a 10 year old. I love to catch her out in the garden creating and we do everything we can to encourage her artistic side.

But for real. I think we’ve started a new trend in western wear😆
These photos perfectly meld our two worlds and make my heart so happy.
I❤️🤠

Well shoot. Sometimes it feel like we can’t catch a break.
It’s May long and while snow is “normal” for our area this time of year it still sucks.

May long is a Canadian stat holiday to celebrate Queen Victoria’s birthday…I think 😆
But it’s always the 3rd weekend in May.

There is little bits of broken stems but I think overall everything will be just fine.

What garden struggles are you having already this year?
Please tell me I’m not the only one!

What a great Mother’s Day present to wake up to. A baby I didn’t have to birth🤣

Meet PENNY!! She’s reminds me of my sisters labradoodle named Penny. They’re about the same size too😆

It’s a “P” year on the farm. All our cows born this year are named and labelled with a P for easy record keeping.

Send me your best P names. We’ve had 2 heifers so far. I’m still looking for the right name for our other little girl.

We grow more than just flowers here!
If you have only ever eaten grocery store asparagus, you haven’t lived.
Homegrown asparagus has a flavour like nothing else.

It’s a perennial vegetable. It takes a couple years to establish well before you should harvest from it. Kinda like a peony😆
But once it’s established you can harvest from it for decades.
There a few ditches around us where old homesteads used to be. Every spring you can find the asparagus shoot poking up!

Once we’ve eaten all the asparagus we can handle we let it grow and actually use the big ferny stems in our bouquets. Which is why I grow it in the flower field.

Do you have asparagus in your garden??

And anyone who disagrees will have to arm wrestle me💪🏻😆

But for real, I wish more moms weren’t so afraid to ask for what they want. Or ask for something as luxurious as a weekly flower subscription.

Make her feel extra loved this year because we all know she deserves it.
