Nemorivagant — wandering through the woods. 🌿

I’ve probably spent more hours doing exactly this than I could ever count. Wandering through the forest, foraging for whatever happens to be in season, stopping to look at plants, following little paths just to see where they go.

Sometimes it’s nice to discover there’s a word for something you’ve loved all along.

There’s something about the call of a loon drifting across a quiet lake that makes you want to stop and listen.

No music needed here. Just the gentle sound of the water, loons calling in the distance, and even a couple of horseflies making their way into the soundtrack.

The simple sounds of a northern summer. 🌿

There are reminders of another time scattered all along our shores.

Old fishing stages, weathered wharves, boats that no longer leave the harbour, and communities quieter than they once were.

They are pieces of a way of life that shaped generations—a history slowly weathered by time, but never entirely gone.

Perhaps that’s the thing about the past. Even when the years move on, it leaves its echoes behind.
