Our first harvest is officially in! 🍎🌱
We planted our first trees at Little Dog Farm in 2023 and have added more every year since, bringing our orchard to around 3,000 trees. It’s been a journey of planting, learning and patience, with some tough setbacks along the way. The January 2024 cold spell that hit BC’s fruit industry damaged some of our young trees and killed others, making this first harvest feel particularly special.
From the beginning, we’ve been working to turn marginal soil into a thriving orchard. Our regenerative practices include cover cropping and applying compost teas and extracts that Ian makes right here on the farm, putting care into the soil as well as the trees growing in it.
This year’s harvest is small, but it’s enough to make our first experimental batches of c***r—and that’s a milestone we’re very happy to celebrate! There’s still plenty to learn, but seeing our own fruit gathered up and ready for the next stage makes all those hours in the orchard feel worthwhile.
